Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows of any religious community/order that works in college campus ministry, and with young adults but also are faithful to church teachings?? All I can really find is the Paulist Fathers, but for multiple reasons I've been told not even to consider them..

Thanks.

The Oblates of St. Francis DeSales. Our Director of Campus Ministry is one and we also have a Sister in the community that works in Campus Ministry too. But you would most likely only be able to work at DeSales.

TradCatholic- the Dominican Brothers work as campus ministers at many college campuses, especially at Newman centers for public universities.

Central province: http://www.domcentral.org/ministries/
Western province: http://www.opwest.org/ministries/campus-ministries
Southern province: http://www.opsouth.org/our_ministry/

They are all faithful to the Church. They might have slightly different views on "how traditional" they are.

The Community of St. John does a bit at least. I know the Brothers in Princeville, IL used to work a lot with students at Bradley University in Peoria. Now I just see on their sight that they have retreats for FOCUS (Fellowship of Cathoilc University Students) You could probably ask this question of them http://www.focus.org/ (what communities work directly on campus ministry) & they could give you a more thorough answer.

Also, here the Apostolic Sisters of St. John work on campus ministry in NJ.

Then the priests & brothers of Miles Christi work especially with college students. One of them was/is the chaplain at Madonna University in Livonia, MI http://www.madonna.edu/ I'm not sure what other colleges they may work with, but I believe it's more that they do things for that age group, like retreats and especially vocation discernment :nunpray: http://www.mileschristi.org/

Both Franciscan University of Steubenville & Ave Maria have different congregations involved to one extent or another on their respective campuses. :) Prayers, :amen:

Don't rule out the Paulists completely. The Paulists I've met are incredibly holy men on fire with the love of God. My priest friend was a Paulist before becoming (transitioning? I know there's an actual word for this) a diocesan priest. They do a lot of good work!

The Jesuits also do a lot of work in campus ministry. Even if one's a diocesan priest, you can do campus ministry--the two priests at my campus church had no idea they would be led here!

AND HOW COULD I FORGET: The Oratorians do campus ministry! They are a pretty razzle dazzle order, and I recommend checking them out!

Also the Jesuits. Some of them are wonderful.

I was just about to suggest the "Brotherhood of Hope" but Hopeful beat me to it! So now there is no purpose to this posting whatsoever. :paperbag:

It seems like I'm linking to this community quite a bit recently: http://www.mileschristi.org/

This is a part of their mission statement:

"Priests and Brothers are devoted to the pursuit of sanctity, for the greater glory of God. Our mission is the sanctification of the laity, particularly of college students."

From their website it seems that they are more traditionally minded, e.g. it appears they wear the cassock.
