Non Discernment Retreats At Monasteries?

Even though many of us are discerning, I was wondering if there are any retreats with sisters that are not oriented to religious discernment? But just prayer retreats, etc? I know that the Sisters of Life have some of these but I'm wondering about other communities as well.

thanks! :)

Various communities may offer prayer weekends, but one has to rely on the Spirit to lead one to the website in time to make reservations.

Blessings,

I am thinking about these Norbertine monks in the New Mexico. They have little hermitages you can get. Spiritual direction available by appointment. Cook in your own kitchen, come to prayers if you want. But mostly its just you and the Lord and the desert. $40/day.

Your post specifically refers to "monasteries." Most in the Benedictine tradition (including Cistercians, Trappists, etc.) will have some sort of retreat ministry (either guided, directed, or just "here's some space, and here's the prayer schedule") because hospitality is part of their charism.

I have heard of quite a lot. DSMME may have some but I could be wrong. Feel free to correct me! And the Sisters of Life might too

krissylou mentioned this before I saw it, but if you ask a Benedictine monastery, they might be open to that. I don't know if the Cistericans or Trappists would, though, since they are more cloistered. It wouldn't hurt to try, though. I'm a guy, lol, but I know the monastery I'm entering has a guestmaster and they have people come and visit for personal retreats on a fairly regular basis.

What Krissy said, I know the Trappists in my state hold all kinds of non-vocation related guided retreats and private retreats.

I have personally been on a non-discernment retreat at an Abbey. I would suggest if you know of a community near you get in contact with them. As Krissy said there will probably be varying levels (anything from directed retreat to here's your room here's the schedule) but it doesn't hurt to check it out.

Dominicans of Saint Cecilia have a womens non-discernment retreat I believe. Same with Regina Laudis,

I was gonna mention the ND's. They have spiritual renewal kind of retreats (I've been on one, it was wonderful!) and i think days of recollection as well. I know you could always take your own silent retreats at some convents or monasteries.

The Passionist Nuns at Whitesville, KY have a beautiful retreat space, if what you're looking for is silence. Also the Benedictines in Virginia Dale, CO.
