filius_angelorum Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Just sayin'. Anyone know any? I think, if they were any good, they would be a huge boost to evangelism in the Midwest and Dixie.
Dave Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 (edited) I apologize for only just now seeing this thread, but I can help! Here are some Catholic country singers that I know of (but this doesn't mean that every single one is devout or practicing): George Morgan (deceased, a convert) Lorrie Morgan (his daughter) Sammy Kershaw Steve Azar Collin Raye (a convert) Aaron Neville (has recorded country music, so I'm including him here) Rosanne Cash (non-practicing) Anne Murray Rick Trevino (now an evangelical, but was raised Catholic at least during his childhood) Tom Wopat (better known for playing Luke Duke on the Dukes of Hazzard but is also a country singer). Beati Pacifici Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 The Phatmass Redneck Movement is taking over!
Dave Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 His wife, Nicole Kidman, is, but not Keith Urban himself . . . or at least that used to be the case. For all I know, maybe he converted; I don't know
Luigi Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I like Rosanne Cash. I have all her albums. But she's not just a non-practicing Catholic, she's downright anti-Catholic these days - it comes through loud and clear on some of the songs on Black Cadillac.
LouisvilleFan Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Jimmy Buffett was raised Catholic. Pretty sure he's no longer practicing.
Kateri89 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Jimmy Buffett was raised Catholic. Pretty sure he's no longer practicing. I only know Margaritaville and I never really thought of that as country...but I know literally nothing else about Jimmy Buffett...
Gabriela Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 (edited) Collin Raye performed live and gave his testimony at the Defending the Faith Conference at Franciscan last summer. Definitely Catholic, that guy. And I agree: If we have Catholic rap, we should totally have Catholic country. Edited March 4, 2013 by curiousing
Nihil Obstat Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 I guess country is just a genre that lends itself well to evangelicalism. Just how things go sometimes. There is some very good country out there, if one knows how to find it. :)
PhuturePriest Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Country music should be burned. Long live Classic Rock and Michael Buble.

BigJon16 Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Country music should be burned. Long live Justin Bieber and One Direction! Really? Ron Swanson does not approve.
duke4172 Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Red Sovine was catholic at least his funeral was in a Catholic church!
