Hamilton almost proves his amesomeness also by being a non-President on our currency, His reaction after being fatally shot during a duel was to tell the doctor to be careful of his gun, because it was still cocked and loaded.

It's too bad Hamilton wasn't shot before he was able to support ridiculous interpretations of the Constitution to usher in the beginning of expanding Federal power.

I'm practicing for the Fall. Those Freshmen aren't going to smell of elderberries the fun out of things all by themselves. :|

Though the opposing duelist was the Democratic Republican Vice President, so the death could be considered extra ironic. The man who espoused the expansion of Federal power was killed by the second highest ranking member of the executive branch who benefited overall from that expansion of power.

It's interesting that one of the most prominent framers of the constitution didn't understand what the Framers intended for the constitution to mean.

Understanding and upholding mean two different things.

Also, the bit about Obama being black and therefore on the "food stamp" is just bull poo and you know it. It has nothing to do with his color. More like his policies. The USDA is spending MILLIONS of dollars in ADS to get people to sign up for welfare and EBT. THAT is ridiculous. I keep seeing signs outside of public schools that say that they will be open for the summer to provide the students who qualify for the free lunches with free lunches and breakfasts. That is also ridiculous. I understand that there are people who really need assistance. But it's going to cost MORE money for them to open the schools for lunch and breakfast. And really shouldn't we be trying to get people OFF of welfare? Isn't the point and purpose assistance, not dependence?

I can't even tell you how many times I was told (when I'd say I couldn't go somewhere or do something because I didn't have enough money - I was making less than 10K a year for the last two and half years) "oh well just sign up for food stamps and then you can go places"

say what?!.

Yes they do. They're trying to get the attention of rural conservatives whites who don't their their hard-earned money going to a bunch a lazy, ghetto dwelling blacks. I hear it all the time when I'm out stomping around in beautiful eastern North Carolina. Welcome to the wonderful world of right-wing politics.

All jokes about Obama are racist durrrrrr. I don't get why we should see a food stamp and assume such a direct connection to black people. That seems racist......

Your sarcasm reminds me of having to listen to a Supreme Court case, forget which one, but it was within the past decade. As I listened to the oral arguments one lawyer tried to inform one of the Justices that he didn't understand the meaning behind the opinion that was being cited. The Justice replied that he understood the meaning of the opinion as he was the one who had written it.

I really don't appreciate the implication that every conservative in the south is racist. Probably because I grew up in Alabama where a LOT of racism does happen and it is awful, but it is NOT every single southern conservative. If you want to make racism a factor, then you need to make a new thread.

14.7 million in 8 years vs 14.2 in three.

The rate is increasing faster and THE GOAL IS TO GET IT TO INCREASE! The goal should be to get people OFF of assistance programs.

I missed the part where I said that ever conservative in the south is racist. There is, however, a correlative relationship between being a conservative in the south and being a racist.
Probably because I grew up in Alabama where a LOT of racism does happen and it is awful, but it is NOT every single southern conservative.
This is a straw man. I never said that every single southern conservative is a racist.
If you want to make racism a factor, then you need to make a new thread.
Why?
14.7 million in 8 years vs 14.2 in three.
Yep. And when did this big sudden surge in foodstamp usage occur. I think it was sometime around the end of Bush's second term and the begining portion of Obama's. Hm. What happened during this timeframe? Did Bush and Obama suddenly start throwing out foodstamp cards? Or did the economy, you know, kind of explode? Maybe around 2008? I'm just spit-balling here.
The rate is increasing faster
Actually, if you read that article, the rates are starting to fall off.
and THE GOAL IS TO GET IT TO INCREASE!
In what political universe do you live where a President facing reelection wants to be known as the President under whom foodstamp usage exploded?
The goal should be to get people OFF of assistance programs.
Yep.

But back to the purpose of this spat. It is just infinity fascinating to me that the same racist rhetoric I see back in my part of the woods will suddenly appear, scrubbed of n-bombs, in formats like the one Groo presented and yet, amazingly, it has absolutely nothing to do with the remarkably similar racist rhetoric that occurs in conservative parts of the country. It's really quite amazing. This has nothing to do with race. And that's why I constantly hear right-wingers refer to Bush, under whom this boom began, as a food-stamp President. Oh, wait. I never hear that term associated with Bush. I hear plenty of complaints that Bush wasn't a 'true conservative' but for some reason that rhetoric which seems to be a somewhat sanitized version of typical racist rhetoric, is only applied to the black President. Hmmmm...

Hey, what's this?

Hm. It seems to be a more overtly racist, but thematically identical, version of the same format. Huh. What an interesting coincidence.

Barack Obama is as white as he is black. Until the man is claimed in America's first racial draft, in honor of Dave Chappelle, I will never understand the significance of his mocha colored epidermis.

You're either a vile propagandist or utterly ignorant of American racial history.

Obama is, but historical American standards, a black man. The fact that you ignore this history is truly despicable and intellectually vapid. Or your just another ignorant northerner who is just genuinely ignorant to the workings of racism in the heartland of racism in America..

That's not how blackness has **ever** been determined around here. I guess you really are just ignorant about racism and that's cute, but also sad because said ignorance empowers actual racists. The general standard in the south, particularly after the Civil War, is the one-drop rule. One drop of black blood makes an individual black. That's how it's been for a long, long time and that general trend continues today. Obama is a black man, by the historical standard and by the standard that continues to today.

It seems that you may be the ignorant one, my friend, for Barack Obama is only half black. He is a half-black, half-white man. I can reference a source if you require one.
