Am I the only one who is quite surprised to see the final vows being made into the hands of the bishop? It seems quite unusual to me (and IMHO inappropriate) NOT to be making vows in a religious community into the hands of the community's major superior.

Or do these sisters have some different status that makes the bishop their major superior?

You know, I am not sure, but they are a solid group, so I am sure they have a reason.
