I just have to ask if you are aware that the new laws prohibit insurance from allowing a patient to be readmitted within 30 days? So if you had a surgery, and then got sent home, but came down with a really bad infection, you would not be readmitted (at least not with the insurance paying for it). I have a friend who works in a hospital and she has had to turn cancer patients away because they can only be admitted once every thirty days, no matter how bad it is (the guy she turned away today couldn't breathe and had cancer)

This friend was all about Obama at least a couple of weeks ago. So I'm not asking out of malice or anything. But this is something that I haven't seen that very many people are aware of it.

Sure. SHe's right it is medicare (but I am going to guess that if the government is now setting the rules for insurances, they will eventually be bound by the same)

For starters.

From the Forbes article

Although the ObamaCare readmission rules initially apply only to Medicare patients, private insurers tend to follow Medicare payment guidelines. Hence, millions of Americans with private insurance could soon be affected as well.

could everyone take a step back and perhaps stop talking about zabba's situation personally (yes, I know she's the one that brought it up)....

instead, let's talk in generics. :)

During the short time I've been around here on Phatmass, if you're gonna spill the beans about who you are and what you believe, well then you better be careful, cuz the regular posters on this phorum are gonna be on you like bird doo on a shiny car!

I've been here since 2005...I didn't really consider that acting like "bird doo on a shiny car" lol ... I'll say whatever I believe especially if it is something I feel strongly about. Healthcare, legalization, higher education...yep!

Personally I do not believe that anybody has a right to force other people to pay for their education, so for me the concept of government subsidies of education is inherently problematic at best.
If the money is being offered, on a personal level, I do not think it is wrong to take advantage of that, because one does not really have the choice of not paying into it. Might as well try to get back what you have already put in. But it is the coercive collection of those subsidies that concerns me.

That's what I meant. Typing on a phone you know. And still did not consider it that. Phatmass is tame to me.

On another note, I am a liberal non-theist debating on a conservative catholic forum. I wasn't expecting anyone to agree with me. So don't act all hard because 99% of the people here disagree with me.

To me, most come off as statists. It must really rustle your jimmies to know that in the eyes of an anarchist, you are quite nearly as bad as (and sometimes worse than) a liberal. :smile3:
