Catholic Hymns

mulls

Recommended Posts

being born and raised a catholic and attending catholic grammar school for 8 years allowed me to pretty much memorize our parish's hymn book, the good ol' Glory & Praise!

i have a lot of free time at my job (bellhop at a hotel). when people aren't checking in it's extremely slow, so sometimes i go outside and praise the Lord for a bit. sometime's i'll sing songs from my current church in my head or under my breath, sometimes i'll make up lmy own yrics (i'm a decent freestyler).

and sometimes i'll remember some catholic hymns.

lately, i've had a tune stuck in my head, and i can't remember what it is. i think it's called Prayer of St. Francis.'

i can't remember the lyrics, but i know how the music goes, and i remember the first line of the chorus:

"Make me a channel of your peace...."

can somebody help me out and find the lyrics to this for me? it's driving me nuts!

i remember that this was a beautiful song, i just hope i still agree with all the lyrics (or rather, that they agree with me!)

Thanks all.

PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS

verse 1.)

make me a channel of your peace,

where there is hatred let me bring your love.

where there is injury, your pardon Lord.

and where there's doubt,

true faith in you.

Refrain:

Oh Master grant that i may never seek,

So much to be consoled as to console

To be understood,

as to understand,

to be loved as to love with all my soul..

Verse 2.)

make me a channel of your peace,

where there's despair in life

let me bring hope.

where there is darkness, only light.

and wheres sadness ever joy.

Refrain

verse 3.)

make me a channel of your peace,

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned.

in giving in ourselves that we recieve

and in dying that we're born to eternal life

refrain

*hope that helps! :)

Make me a channel of your peace.

Where there is hatred let me bring your love;

Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord;

And where there’s doubt, true faith in you.

Oh, master, grant that I may never seek

So much to be consoled as to console;

To be understood as to understand;

To be loved, as to love with all my soul.

Make me a Channel of your peace.

Where there’s despair in life let me bring hope;

Where there is darkness, only light;

And where there’s sadness, ever joy

Oh, master, grant that I may never seek

So much to be consoled as to console;

To be understood as to understand;

To be loved, as to love with all my soul.

Make me a channel of your peace.

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

In giving to all men that we receive;

And in dying that we’re born to eternal life.

here's another favorite of my class, because our music teacher would play it on the piano real fast and it was fun trying to sing as fast as possible and keep up with the tempo. I only know the chorus and first verse off the top of my head.

King of Glory

refrain:

The King of Glory comes

the nation rejoices

open the gates before him

lift up your voices

1.

Through all of Galilee

in city or village

He goes among His people

curing their illness

i think i got it right.

let me try and think of some more, this is gonna be a good thread.

i can personally go for some lighthearted posting at the moment. the debate table is making my head hurt.
