The Constitution Separates Church And State, except For Healthcare

The whole point is not to argue over this, but the bigger picture.

The Federal government has no authority to manage healthcare of any sort, period. No powers were granted to them by the States or the republic to seize control over any industry, including setting wages.

So whether it is the morning after pill or even legislating abstinence, they have no power to do so, as set forth by the Constitution.

Right.  5,000 years ago some guys who thoughts slavery was ok didn't anticipate that we'd need a single payer healthcare system.  Brilliant.

St Michael sounds more like a Baptist from the foot hills of Tennessee than a Roman Catholic. The state has a duty to ensure the wellbeing of all of its citizens. Even those who are neither white nor middle class. And please DO leave the human authors of scripture alone.

I will not trade insults with you, but our Constitution, does not give this government the control it has seized in the last 100 years.

The Federal Government cannot give you rights. In their attempt to do so, they plunder through everything we hold dear. From marriage, which is not a state institution, but a religious one, seizing that as opposed to recognizing it and now we have a segment of the society that believes the state can give them a right that does not exist. Therefore redefining it.

Health Insurance is not a right. And just like the Catholic Church ran hospitals, nursing homes, etc. funded by the willingness of the flock to help our brother, etc. this is up to us, not some bureaucrat.

Instead of seeing the big picture, learning your history, understanding the document, you seek to rewrite the land of the law on a whim. The state has no duty to the citizen that the citizen does not grant it.

The citizen has not granted such powers to a bunch of temporary politicians who have circumvented the Constitution and wedging in laws they themselves do not have to follow.

We live in a representative republic, the power to do as they have has not been given to them, they have seized it.

Therefore, such items like Social Security, Medicare, Obamacare and a host of others are powers they have granted themselves. To devolve into conversation about abortion versus viagra is exactly where these politicians want you to be.

If you need a few books on this once great nation, I will provide you with a few titles so you can educate yourself.

"Health insurance" may not be a right, but nationalized healthcare seems to of necessity flow from love of neighbor. As for this country, it is a country. One nation, like many others. Currently no better or no worse. It was historically to those of its citizens who were not Protestants, were not white, and were not male a horrifying place to live. Dismiss this as revisionism if you want, but tested against the stark light of Scripture and the Christian ideal this enlightenment project was a horrible failure.

Even the debate is incorrect.

This nation leads the world with regards to actual healthcare. People from around the globe swarm here for the best care you can find. This is not provided by the government as the government cannot create anything.

Health insurance is what Obamacare has seized to control healthcare.

And where does it say in the Good book that we the people should have the government do our good? Isn't that collectivism?

America is exceptional. Was exceptional. And will be exceptional again. It is the only nation that its people were free to rule themselves. Free to worship. Free to succeed. The founders saw this country as a creation by God. Providence was the word.

Can we say the same about Egypt? Saudia Arabia where I cannot be caught wearing a cross or carrying a bible? The UK that has lost its way? Europe that has been trying to find its way for centuries without a monarchy or dictator?

If America fails, which it will not, it is because it blocks out God's light and nothing else.

No other country before and certainly no country after will ever allow its people to decide its own way.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Hopefully Winchester will forgive me for stealing his line: I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend your religion. America has some exceptional things. Having a written constitution is good. Writing that constitution to preserve slave power in the south and the concentration of power into the hands of the wealthy is not. America does not have the best health care system in the world. America does have a great system if you have a lot of money. But in terms of the quality of care widely available America is bad. That is true by every metric. In terms of both cost and outcome America is far behind the rest of the affluent world. Markets do not work in the health care industry. That was demonstrated almost a half a century ago by the same economist who proved that markets under certain conditions, resulted in general equilibrium (this is the intellectual cornerstone of free market ideology). So this isn't something out of the socialist left. This is from the same guy who made the rise of neoclassical economics intellectually possible. The data also supports this outcome as America, which most approximates a market health system in the affluent world, also also has the most expensive and inefficient health care system.

In Jesus's name, please DO stop conflating Republican rhetoric with Christian revelation. Collectivism/corporatism (note I do not say atheistic communism) is not hellish.

You might do with reading Augustine's city of God. The notion that providing people with government funded healthcare is some kind of moral failure, but the largest forced migration in human history, holding millions of people in hereditary bondage (which included the near universal rape of African women by their white "Christian" masters and the overseers they employed), denying them the right to vote or even live with a reasonable expectation that their families would not be sold, their young men, would not be killed, etc. is ludicrous. You are either a troll or someone's woefully misinformed  16 year old who needs to turn off Fox news and pick up the Sources of Christian Doctrine (firstly and most needfully the Bible, but for this nonsense the Magisterial teaching of the Roman Church will also do as a profound rebuke). This country's good old days were not good for the majority of its citizens it is SATANIC to suggest that they were.
