You are right, of course, the Cloister is Carm-el

 

The candies are Car-a-mel

 

But it strikes me you will get an extra penance each time we call those candies Carmels.... ;)

Do they all know the difference over which should be eaten.....that's what I would like to know.

 

Here in the UK (where I have never heard Car-a-mels called Carmels, we certainly know the difference.

 

 

Come to think of it though, not sure of which I am most fond!
