domenica_therese Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2013/04/15/pope-francis-nuns-sisters-lcwr-vatican/2084617/ http://vaticaninsider.lastampa.it/en/world-news/detail/articolo/suore-nuns-monjas-vaticano-vatican-24152/ I'm not sure I entirely like the tone of either article, but the news is encouraging.
Gabriela Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 The tone of the first article is definitely political. But then, it's USA Today. They don't know how to talk about anything without reducing it to liberal and conservative. I find it interesting, though, that, in that article, the sister essentially reduces the issue to the same. "Soccer ball"? The Vatican is kicking us around? That's hardly respectful. At the risk of opening up another nasty debate on this topic, I do find it rather shocking that a group of nuns would defy the Pope outright. I mean, that in itself is evidence that there is cause for concern. I don't know any LCWR sisters or orders, and I'm sure not all LCWR sisters or orders feel represented by those defying Rome, but those who are defying Rome deserve to be brought into line. They did take vows of obedience, did they not?
Guest Allie Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 It is strange that we have 2 Major Superiors of Women's groups. Maybe they could all join CMSWR?
