My friend from New Zealand is here. It's such a blessing, she's helping keep all the usual packing and departing stress down, in so many ways, and keeping my parents delighted whereas they and I normally have terrible nasty arguments just before I leave. (It's a worn-in tradition we couldn't change if we tried.) And I'd be so freaked out about everything I'm leaving if I were here alone, but with my friend here all I'm doing is looking ahead, happily, and she's so funny she just keeps cracking me up.
