Brother Adam Posted June 4, 2004 Posted June 4, 2004 I'm sitting here exhuasted and frustrated. There is so much work to be done for the kingdom, for the Lord, yet so little time to do it. Do you ever finish days feeling like you have accomplished nothing even though you have been working the whole day?

phatcatholic Posted June 4, 2004 Posted June 4, 2004 i feel ya dude....... i think what happens is that we don't see the fruits of our labor right away, so it always appears as tho everything we did was for nothing. but, i just have to remind myself that even the intent to do good has redeeming value, and God will thank us for trying our hardest, no matter how "productive" (by human standards) we are. plus, our reward isn't of this earth anyway....... also, st. thomas aquinas speaks of a virtue called "magnanimity", which basically means doing the good work of the Lord w/o expecting anything in return. so, i try to make that virtue my goal as well, realizing that even if not a single person sees the good i have done in Christ Jesus, God sees it and He never forgets. stay strong brother.......pax christi, phatcatholic

That's what determines how big it is. And I think in that you are going farther than you think Bro Adam "Therese of Lisieux is one of the patron saints of the missions, not because she ever went anywhere, but because of her special love of the missions, and the prayers and letters she gave in support of missionaries. This is reminder to all of us who feel we can do nothing, that it is the little things that keep God's kingdom growing." from Catholic Online I feel like I can do even less, I mean I just got out of my frist year of High School, so studying, helping my family where I can, doing little sacrifices, all these little things with great love is the best i can do.

Sometimes the fruit takes a long time to be known. Also, things that seem small and unimportant to us sometimes have major (even eternal) consequences.
