I was hoping to get outside and shovel all the slush off the walkways because tonight it's going to get back down to 11oF with wind chills below zero... Huge slabs of ice should be fun to walk on... :stubborn:

I am walking to work so I have my alpaca socks, my yak trax for my boots, thinsulate gloves & 2 scarves on top of my coat...it's only a five minute walk, but sheesh! :icey: (it's closer for me to walk than it is to drive & park in the parking lot! :topsy:) And I'm bringing Starbucks hot chocolate with me...for comfort & fortification once I'm there :coffee:

NotreDame Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 My family back in the 'old country' sent me a screen shot of their local weather forecast. It was -17(!!!) out without windchill. Everything is shut down and closed: Schools, stores, roads, everything. Cops are even ticketing folks for driving. Meanwhile it's sunny without a cloud in the sky here. I almost felt a little guilty for not spending more time outside today!
OnlySunshine Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 It's in the 20s right now. I didn't want to get out of bed because I had my warm fleece blanket and thick robe on and was toasty warm. I'm not looking forward to going outside to brave that wind chill. With the wind chill, it feels below 20. :cold: :icey:

OnlySunshine Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 The temp kept going up and down today. It felt REALLY good in the sunlight but the wind factor was HORRIBLE! When I first got to school around 10am, the wind was blowing hard and, even though I was wearing layers (including a windbreaker, fleece jacket, thermal shirt, a scarf, and gloves), I was FREEZING! The lowest actual temp was 27 but the wind brought it down to 19. Ugh!
