They may not all stay, depending on what they discern in their novitiates, but we can be glad that they're even giving religious/priestly life a shot. Dominican Friars - Southern Province (Martin De Porres): 3 novices Dominican Friars - Central Province (St. Albert the Great): 4 novices, at least St. Bernard Abbey - Cullman, AL: 3 novices (on top of 6 last year) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Luigi Posted July 3, 2014 Author Share Posted July 3, 2014 Mary, Mother of the Church Benedictine Abbey in Richmond, VA received four candidates (I guess that's the same as novices?) in May. A picture of them is currently rotating on the abbey web page: http://richmondmonks.org/ What makes that especially important is that there are only eight monks in solemn vows, so they really need the newbies. There are now a total or two brothers in temporary vows, three novices, and an observer. Check their website, find the Abbey Diary, and look up July 2014. Their sister abbey has two postulants (one new, one about to receive the habit) two in temporary vows (one due for perpetual any day now, one has a ways to go) and just celebrated a solemn profession a couple months ago.
