It's fine Carl Sagan personally believed it, but he preached it as if it were fact and not mere scientific theory. Oh, and phrases like "Billions and billions of star stuff." are obviously the mark of an expert in the scientific field.

Though I do question why he is able to watch girly animes and My Little Pony and no one questions it, but I make a thread about One Direction and shaving my legs and everyone thinks I'm gay. :P

My entire being exudes an air on unquestionable authority so strong that anyone inclined to question it instead questions their own sense of reality. In a certain metaphysical sense, my authority is the paradoxical embodiment of the dasein. Or perhaps it is my maverick devil-may-care attitude and rakish good looks.

Make it an upside-down pineapple rum cake. Add cream instead of milk. Make sure to use butter instead of oil. Or ... use both. But not olive oil (that may not taste that good).

maximillion Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I swapped out eating cake made from the usual stuff to ones using vegan ingredients (and mainly raw) and have lost 28lbs in 14 weeks. Yes, it is true I had it to lose, but this is the first time I have ever lost weight and kept it off - oh, and I went low GI in general too and am feeling the benefits.

Think -- 30, 40, 50, 60. I would however make sure to have a fire extinguisher at hand in case the candles sort of get a mind of their own.

Do you mean you bought cake mix in a box and baked it? Because one is truly "from scratch", and the other not. However, I greatly enjoy the cake mixes that come in a box. I hate buying cakes from bakeries, because people always O.D. on frosting. Frosting is a complimentary taste, not the focus of the flavor. Bakeries put 3 inches of frosting on, and it makes me gag because it tastes so awful and creamy. I was raised to believe that it meant you didn't use a mix. You measured out, sifted, creamed, combined, and baked.
photosynthesis Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 From scratch. My favorite cake to make is called "Depression cake" and mixes in one bowl. Technically the recipe is vegan, but for some reason the cake still manages to be rich (and a cure for depression) wish I were making some right now!
Catherine Therese Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 to all the purists out there... cake is cake. and life can be crazy. sure, home-made cake is fantastic! but store-bought certainly doesn't indicate a lack of love, and as CMAD indicated, box-cake need not indicate a lack of culinary creativity.

Seriously, my cakes are very hit-and-miss (or should that be hit-and-run?) and it's better for all concerned that I buy them from a shop. :P
