probably because many who dont know, just regard it as a non vocation, or layperson, asking - how does their lifestyle differ from a normal celibate person? if they dont identify with a communtiy identity, why not join an eremetical order? if they like the world, why not join a secular institute? what witness do they really give to the world that is so important?
