"Shodan" means "First Man", which means I'm a first degree black belt. Today I celebrate the birth and life of Miles. This day October 6, 2014 he is 18 yrs old. I have been honored to watch him come up in the Dojo and grow into a man of honor. May G-d continue to direct His path for you and you seek His Wisdom. I got my black belt two years ago, but it was what's called a "Shodan-Ho" rather than Shodan, which basically means it wasn't a full black belt because I wasn't 18.
