Update: I am definitely going to the retreat! :) Anyone else?

Posted

This is one of the communities that I'm interested in. I wish I could go on this retreat! There are a few other communities that I'm interested in so I don't know if I can.

I discerned with the Paulines way back in the '90s.  They were my first love, before I discovered the Dominicans.  For the longest time, I pondered getting a tattoo of their logo:

OT--This made me wonder if there are any Communities that would reject an applicant if she had a tattoo?

In general, I don't think an applicant would be rejected purely because she had a tattoo. It may still be something to mention to the vocation director during the discernment process, especially if the tattoo is in a more visible area (hand, neck, etc.). I think it really depends on the individual discerner, as well as the community. However, I don't have any personal experience with this issue, so other people may have better insights. :)

I have returned! The retreat was lovely. There were three days of silence, which really enabled me to deepen my relationship with Jesus. :)

Glad to hear you had a good experience! I was thinking about you. I decided not to go (obviously) after taking it to prayer- it was just not something the Lord was asking me to do. I hope He leads you deeper with Him in your daily life too now.

I visited the Daughters of St. Paul many years ago in Chicago, I had a day with them and my biggest memory of it was eating the most mustardy sandwich I'd ever had in my life.  Tons of yellow mustard, haha.  Lovely sisters though, it was great how available they made themselves to people in through book store, people could just walk in and ask them questions, or for a book recommendation, or a prayer request.  They were very approachable.
