Strictlyinkblot Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I've delayed posting this because it seemed like every time I've done so something went wrong. My official entrance date into the Monastery of Our Lady of the Rosary is the 8th of December. I've booked my flight and will be getting my visa as soon as my new passport arrives, God willing. I'm working agency shifts at the moment and my lease is up at the end of October. So right now I'm just waiting. I'll be going to stay with my parents for a month beforehand. So, six weeks or so until I go back to Ireland, twelve weeks until I enter.
Marie Villalovos Smith Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Great news.....did you get a chance to mark the new Breviary? Gods Blessing on you and all the Sisters.... PAX
vee Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Prayers for you that the Holy Spirit continue to guide you safely on your way. You'll be fine.

Seeing how God has been working in you helps my own faith.
Luigi Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Go in peace to love and serve the Lord ad multos annos.
IgnatiusofLoyola Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Great news.....did you get a chance to mark the new Breviary? Gods Blessing on you and all the Sisters.... PAX Please forgive my ignorance, but I don't know what it means to "...mark the new Breviary." I do know what a breviary is, but I don't know the significance in this context. Thanks!
Sr Mary Catharine OP Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 The postulants have to mark their breviaries for all the singing so that they know what to do. It's tedious. I have done many, many sets! When I was in the novitaite we had enough old sets and I would be assigned to do them as the "oldest' novice. When the new edition comes out (2020?) I hope they are marked for singing like the editions are in England. But we'll all still need to mark them for the responsories, etc. After 25 years I STILL find marks in my book that are wrong. No, I didn't have to mark mine! I got an old set. The pages are quite worn. They make me look holy!
IgnatiusofLoyola Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Thank-you for the explanation! Even after five years on Phatmass I am still learning a lot of very basic things!
Makarioi Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 SIB, Are your Sisters in New Jersey or Ireland?
Strictlyinkblot Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 SIB, Are your Sisters in New Jersey or Ireland? New Jersey but I'm Irish. And to confuse things further there is a Dominican monastery in Ireland, Siena, which is absolutely wonderful and I would recommend that you all visit it if you ever get the opportunity.
MargaretTeresa Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 CONGRATS STRICTLY!!! KrissyLou FB messaged me while I was at work and I almost SQUEE'ED aloud. (Which would have gotten me some looks, for sure!) Congrats and I'll be praying for you!
HopefulHeart Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Congratulations! May God bless you abundantly.
Strictlyinkblot Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 YEAH! SHE'S IRISH!!!! :-) Yup, its where I get my stubbornness and ability to procrastinate
veritasluxmea Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Thank-you for the explanation! Even after five years on Phatmass I am still learning a lot of very basic things! If it's any consolation I've been Catholic my whole life and prayed the hours with sisters several times and I didn't know that.
