Should we really spend so much on first communion ?

Only for Confirmation does my Parish have them wear robes. When I made mine, we didn't wear them but we had really strict rules for clothes. I think it's just easier to wear the robes. I personally like the ones we have. They are white which is appropriate because of the enhancement of what was received at Baptism and renewal of the Baptismal Promises and they have a red Dove in the corner.

I believe we had white for first communion and red for confirmation.
