This Carmel was repopulated with Polish Nuns.  Morristown Carmel was involved in controversy with nuns protesting in the late 80's.

So the Morristown Carmel isn't closing right?

No, they are not.  They have reached the 21 members which the constitutions of St. Teresa stipulates that a monastery can only have 21 nuns; special permission needs to sought to increase these numbers in view of a foundation.  They are founding a new monastery in Malta.

True but that was a LONG time ago so time to bury it. It has nothing to do with the current community, half of whom probably weren't even born then!

Its just a statement of facts; part of the history of Morristown Carmel.

 Rev. Mother Marie Therese of Jesus Crucified, OCD was one of the foundresses of Morristown Carmel.  She was exiled to France during the controversy.
