IgnatiusofLoyola Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 (edited) On Thursday Sept 8, StrictlyInkblot (Sister Aisling) will be clothed with the Summit Dominicans. If possible, can as many of us as possible start praying for her Wednesday? I don't know what time her clothing is on Thursday, but usually the Summits post on their Web site about a clothing within hours after it happens, including Sister Aisling's new religious name! I am SO happy for Sister Aisling. She had a long road to Summit, but made it from Ireland to New Jersey, survived the cold winter and wet summer, and now will be taking the next step in her religious vocation. Feankie Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Sr. Chiara Marie of Our Lady Star of the Sea It's official on the website along with a picture. She looks SOOOOOO happy! Congratulations and many blessings.
Sr Mary Catharine OP Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 WOW, Iggy! You beat us to it! Doesn't she look like she was made to be in the habit! :-)
Feankie Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Sister, It was me, Francis Clare, who posted the name, etc. You know what they say about the "early bird"? Although I'd rather have a coffee and danish instead of a worm :))
IgnatiusofLoyola Posted September 8, 2016 Author Posted September 8, 2016 I was awake. (My cat keeps "nuns'" hours.) However, I hadn't checked the Summit Web site yet because I didn't expect the clothing to be this early. Nice work Francis Clare! I was praying for Sister Chiara yesterday (Wed) and thought to myself, "It would be great if others could pray for StrictlyInkBlot/Sister Chiara, too. Perhaps they would if they were reminded." I hope Sister Chiara felt all our prayers during her clothing.

They are here from Dublin for the week!

If it's appropriate, please give SCM a hug from me.
Pax17 Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Congratulations to Sister Chiara Marie and the community.
Strictlyinkblot Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Hi everyone. Sr. Mary Catharine gave me permission to wave I'm a little tired but very happy. Iggy, I'm sorry I haven't written to you lately. I will write soon. Thank you all so much for your prayers and for the support you all gave me while I was on the phorum. God Bless Sr. Chiara Marie
Makarioi Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 I LOVE your name!! .....of Mary, Star of the Sea
Nunsuch Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Shouldn't Sister Chiara Marie no longer be a "Chummy Commoner"?
IgnatiusofLoyola Posted September 9, 2016 Author Posted September 9, 2016 9 hours ago, Nunsuch said: Shouldn't Sister Chiara Marie no longer be a "Chummy Commoner"? The decision was made not to give Phatmassers the "Religious" tag until they have made final vows. But, certainly I'd say that a novice with the Summit Dominicans should qualify as Church Militant. However, I doubt that Sister Chiara Marie will be logging into Phatmass anytime soon, so I wonder if she cares one way or another. Dummy me, I should have read the earlier notes before saying I doubted that SCM would be logging into Phatmass anytime soon. However, I suspect this was a one-time thing. (But SO wonderful to hear from her!!!!!)
Nunsuch Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 I thought that Spem was identified as a religious.... But obviously, if this is the policy....
IgnatiusofLoyola Posted September 9, 2016 Author Posted September 9, 2016 (edited) The policy is pretty recent. As far as I know, users who already had the "Religious" tag at the time of the change did not have the tag taken away. That's why Spem has it (and I'm glad she does) because she gives us wonderful insights into monastic life. I think the policy was put in place because (obviously) not all those who enter religious life remain there, which can cause confusion and the need to change tags. There is no shame in leaving religious life--that's why Orders have initial formation (as opposed to ongoing formation after final vows). I understand both sides of the reasoning. And, the new policy is more consistent--if memory serves (and it might not!) there were cases where some users got the Religious tag before final vows and some did not. Quasar Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 She's adorable and looks so happy. (Nice habit, sisters!)

It was my understanding that Spem was not a monastic, but a member of an active congregation?
Spem in alium Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 This is so wonderful! SCM looks so joyful! I will continue to remember her and the community in my prayers. 49 minutes ago, Nunsuch said: It was my understanding that Spem was not a monastic, but a member of an active congregation? Yes, I am a member of a contemplative-active congregation. I received the Religious tag early last year, but if my having it is causing any issues for anyone please remove it. And thank you Iggy for your words: it's a pleasure to share my simple reflections and thoughts!
Sister Leticia Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Perhaps dUSt could create a new "probie" tag - a word or phrase which covers all stages of formation, for sisters, brothers and priests. To be given when someone enters the first stage of formation (postulant/candidate/aspirant) and retained until they either make final vows (and get the religious tag) or discern out (when presumably they would ask for the tag to be removed) It doesn't have to be "probie", of course, I'm just trying to think of a word of phrase which covers both genders and all stages.
