I am very interested in Extern Sisters, particularly for the PCPA and the PCCs. I wonder if anyone could help me find out more about Externs? Thank you and God bless

Are you able call one of the communities in these orders and ask ?

After Vatican II, externs are now part of the Order.  

They follow the same constitutions just like the cloistered sisters but they have a separate statutes to govern their activities outside the cloister.

According to an OCD Nun in Manila, the difference between cloistered and extern sisters is a matter of geography: cloistered sisters work and pray inside the cloister, while extern sisters work and pray outside the cloister.

The degree of enclosure, separation, etc., varies widely from monastery to monastery. So it is always well to ask the community that is of particular interest to you.
