Mount Angel's Daughter House Now Independent

Mount Angel Benedictine Abbey in Oregon founded a daughter house in Mexico back in 1965. The daughter house became independent on Jan 1, 2017. The article (see link below) doesn't clearly state what the "independence" means - an independent priory? I don't think it's a full-fledged abbey - at least, I don't see the word abbey in its title. At any rate, they've got 12 monks and 17 men in formation!
