Congratulations.

I can't tell, though, is that forum pro-Catholic, anti-Catholic, or what? All the topics there seem to be of an anti-Catholic nature, but the board is called "Catholic Reformation." Huh?

The POWERFUL "Grip" The Catholic Clergy Has On YOU

A topic on this board...

Sounds very anti-Catholic to me.

They lable the Catholic Church as an empire riddled with fault. They fail to see that Man is riddled with fault, not the Church. Some within are corrupt, not all. They focus on the faults of the Church, as opposed to the virtue.

Kinda bugs me is all.

Well, considering the author of the Mission Statement is none other than Bruce S and it looks like the majority of threads have been started by him....

I'm not exactly suprised.

Lumberjack, moding isn't necessarily the easiest job in the world. I wish you good luck and hope that you manage to remain fair and unbiased in your modding efforts. God Bless!

Ah...Bruce S...Never mind then. -_-

Hey, Lumber.

Good Luck with that.

But a board with no 'limits'. Wow, really. Again, Good Luck.

The last board I visited that had no mods (as they put it) also allowed personal attacks, vicious lies and although their membership boasted thousands, all you had to do was check to realize most only posted on average 20-50 times (if that much) and never came back.

So once again. Good luck.
You're gonna need it.

Peace :peace:

I should change my signature to read: Freedom isnt Free.

LJ, I also hope that you manage to bring people closer to Christ (not out of the Catholic Church which seems to be the goal of the website, but CLOSER to HIM...) because I believe that you have said that is your "job" to bring all of us closer to Christ, non-Catholics and Catholics alike.

God Bless.

to all my brethren and sistren,

thank you and thank you.

I've been a mod before, so it shouldn't be too hard.

----

thing is with Bruce, as "mean" and "nasty" as he may come across, he really really really really really does want the best for everyone here.

-----

icey babe,

closer to Christ is the objective, always... if they should go to or away from Catholicism, that will be their decision, not anything that I can have any control over.

as we've seen more than once here, some prots are coming to Catholicism, Neal, Bro Adam...and some are going radically away from it, Morph, Good Friday...and some, well, are still praying (I think) about it...Icthus...

no matter what, we have to remember to keep Christ the center, and so long as we teach, exhort and build one another in the Lord, we are all doing our job.

there is no teaching in the Bible against this, so there is nothing anyone can say that would convince me otherwise.

God bless.

....don't be afraid to come over...really.

Hmm.....I thought I was 24 when I decided I must join the Church.

What's with the Church being referred to as "Roman Catholic" in every thread? It's the Catholic Church, as in "universal". What about all the other rites, like Byzantine?

That board is a joke. Half-truths and humdingers galore.

It sures looks like to me like it is trying to dissuade people from being in the Church.

I find the Catholic clergy's "grip" on my immortal soul to be quite comforting, actually. As far as tyranny goes, my priest made me consider and re-consider quite a bit before converting.

Good Friday is not leaving the Church. Keep praying for him.

Duh, I am Google Bot. Nothing to see here.

yeah I was just about to say that. Actually, everything looks good on the PhatMass Phront, we got Bro Adam comin in, I think QuietFire's comin in or somethin, and HSMom, and that Neal guy, and all sorts of stuff. Lumberjack is still out but he does have a picture of a saint in his avatar, so there could be hope ;) :P. MorphRC has gone out and is in difficult times, we need to pray for him, but (and no offense to him or his decision, this is just my opinion) i do not believe that he's going to remain non-Catholic. He got frustrated, but I think it's possible that in time he'll drop down these walls he's building.

the PhatMass Phront is looking well indeed, the devil ain't got nothin on us.

PhatMass, stoppin hellfire at the moniter level

So, LJ, you're a moderator. My only question is do you still get to be Mary Poppins? :P

I couldnt help laugh at that.
yeah, Im coming in. I told somebody that when I made up my mind I'm like a bulldozer in Reeboks. My husband says I am the 'pushiest' person he's ever met. I dont give up. I can be quite ruthless when I want to be.

I just choose to learn as much as possible before I actually sit and talk to a priest. Ive asked some folks about their priests to get an idea about how they are, so it seems that in my area we may have some good men repping the Church.

I'm kinda like the Adams'. Defending the Church, but in my case, without all the knowledge of her.

Still learning.

Peace :peace:

regarding the new board, all its members so far are straight from the 'Former Catholics For Christ" ezboard.

we all know how lovely that place can be.....

i would love to think that the new board will be different. that Bruce will edit out the ad hominem attacks. but, i'm not holding my breath.....

lumberjack, honestly, is that board a charitable place? i would happily go there and defend catholicism if i knew that it was all about presenting the facts as they see them. but, when people start talking about my "cookie wafer god" and tell me straight up that i don't know how to read, that i'm ignorant, stupid, brainwashed, delusional and other similar insults that have been vaulted against me over at the FCFC, why on earth should i join another board just like it?

bruce is gonna have to prove himself before i join (not that me joining matters much to him or you anyway)

Whats Ad Hominen thing?
Whats Ad Hominen thing?
i don't know exactly what the translation is, but an "ad hominem" argument is one directed at the person who made the argument, instead of being directed at the argument. it usually amounts to criticism of the person in an attempt to discredit the argument. in extreme examples, the person who launches such an attack isn't even thinking about the argument, just about slandering the person in some way. it is inherently uncharitable and is seen by those who are familiar w/ debate as one of the weakest arguments a person could ever make. to an objective audience, the person who makes an "ad hominem" attack usually ends up looking worse then the person the attack was directed towards. of course, in some boards, these types of attacks are actually praised, everyone gets a nice little chuckle out of it, and the person it was directed towards is left wondering why he is the only one that sees anything wrong w/ it.

not like i speak from personal experience or anything.........;)

i would still like a response from lumberjack regarding my previous post.
