Two novice monks, Bros. Gregory and Cole, will profess first vows at Conception Abbey tomorrow, Feast of the Assumption.

AND, at Saint Martin's Abbey in Lacey Washington...

"We offer our prayers and best wishes to Br. Pascal Greene, who will be invested into the novitiate at evening prayer (5:00 PM) tonight. Originally from upstate New York, Br. Pascal is formerly a member of the Franciscan Friars Minor in South Bend, Indiana, but left that community as it was in the process of significant transition. The novitiate is a one-year period of formation in religious life."

I'm not sure what the "process of significant transition" of the Friars Minor refers to, but it's good to know that this religious has found a home, and that the community has gained a monk. He's about the eighth guy to join the community in the last 15 years or so.

St. Andrew Abbey in Cleveland, Ohio has received a new postulant. He graduated from their school in 2015, so he must've just finished his bachelor's degree, and now he's back to enter where he went to high school.

"St. Andrew Abbey welcomes our new postulant, 2015 Benedictine High School '15 graduate and Mr. Benedictine, Paul Gnatowski who will be studying the monastic way under the direction of Rev. Michael Brunovsky, OSB."

St. Andrew Abbey has at least two other men in formation, and three or four who've professed solemn vows in the last four or five years.

They are beautiful to look at, but I know that I could never join [if I were a Catholic, of course!] any order with a white habit.  It would be multicolored within hours of donning it...:smile2:

Is it me or has responding to a potential call to the priesthood and/or religious life have increased?  There also seems to be more ordinations and/or final religious professions.

Anyone have statistics?
