Hi,

 

i have spent about 5 years living in monastic environments, in Europe, both Carthusian and Cistercian. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any communities, or perhaps individual hermits, in Europe which emphasise solitude and have a supportive community.

The charism you're describing isn't very common (in my experience), but it does kind of remind me of the Society of Our Mother of Peace. They do not have any foundations in Europe that I am aware of, though. Their information can be found here: http://www.marythefont.org/

Many monasteries have guesthouses, and that might be something to look into. But few communities offer cost-free hospitality for transients.
