Not sexist at all. Definitely they had to be really careful about not being too hostile to her. Possibly also this being just before the election as well. She wouldn't have had any accusations about misconduct with men. Maybe she's not much of a beer drinker either. ;)

Having 2 black kids also made the racism card a bit difficult to pull out.

Based on that theory the whole supreme court will soon be 100% women in one more turn around.

I can tell you that if you offered me a job with the condition of going through what Kavanah and family went through I would not even take the interview.

Isn't that the same line of argument as "I'm not racist! I've got black friends!"?

You can have children from any race and still be racist.

Case in point... because of politics the supreme court will soon be accessible only to certain criterium....

These criterium will be considerations outside of qualifications or integrity.

Anything is possible, but it's a helluva lot less likely.

Actually the black adoptees were a liability to her appointment not a shield.

The left is suspicious of adoption in general and the far left is absolutely VICIOUS to transracial adoptive families.

I believe some publicly tried to make an issue of it with ACB's children, called her a colonizer and wanting to investigate whether the adoption was "ethically legitimate."

You all are naive if you think her opposition didn't look into it.

Sorry meant to respond to you @Peace

Seriously?

I... am... speechless...

And now if Biden wins Harris will become president and the court packing begins!

And I actually thought Trudeau was bad....:o:(

Oh yeah people accused Barrett of having the "white savior complex" -- as opposed to adopting those children out of the goodness of one's heart.

It was a pretty weak thing to try to pin on her and didn't have much weight, though.

I noticed all of that, but it backfired big time I think. That whole "she is a colonizer" bit was real crank stuff. The accusations and her reaction to it made her seem more relatable, I think.

I am guessing this is how a lot black people viewed those accusations:
