Brother Tried to Commit Suicide

Late last night my brother almost killed himself. Our mom was tipped off about what was going on by one of his friends who saw an alarming Instagram post mentioning what he planned on doing. Our parents rushed him to the hospital and he's thankfully still alive.

We knew about his depression and anxiety already. He's been in therapy. He still can't wrap his head around why he shouldn't commit suicide. He says he knows mom cries about him and thinks that killing himself would make it easier on her. Mom is thinking about having him involuntarily committed.

Please pray he finds healing from his problems, my family, and his friends.

He's 19 and has a history of using substances. Last night dad caught him with vodka and they had a big long fight. Mom had to step in. I get nervous whenever he leaves the house and I delayed going to sleep worrying he'd try to harm himself again.

Maybe my parents will take him to a mental health hospital to stay for a while.

Having him assessed in a psychiatric setting just might be a good move.  Not at unusual for people with undiagnosed psychiatric problems to abuse substances in an effort to 'cure' nasty symptoms of an underlying condition.

Prayer for you, your brother with family and friends.  Especially your mom whose concern and suffering must be very difficult, saying the least.

Please pray. Dad recently got calls from my brother's friends saying they saw him with a knife. He left the house at some point and dad found a wet area. He went into his room and found multiple containers of alcohol. He called him and my brother claims he's making a delivery for Door Dash.

He's back home now. I might find out more later.
