The condemnation and persecution of conservatism in America

Clarence Thomas is an American jurist who serves as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. He was nominated by President George H. W. Bush to succeed Thurgood Marshall and has served since 1991.

When Thomas was sixteen, he fought to earn admittance into a boarding school seminary to pursue his dream of becoming a Catholic priest. He was the first black student admitted to St. John Vianney and felt the pressure of being the sole representative of his race during his time there. Thomas had excellent grades but struggled with the racially charged bullying he endured. In 1967, Thomas entered Conception Seminary at the college level. At this stage in his education, Thomas struggled with the passive stance the Catholic Church had taken in addressing civil rights. He decided to abandon his dream of becoming a priest soon after Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination in 1968.

Should Clarence Thomas Be Impeached? GOP Megadonor Gave Justice Free Luxury

The Democratic Party will do anything to get another liberal Supreme Court justice on the court, even going as far as to persecute a good man.

Senator Lindsey Graham on Tuesday accused Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee of launching "a concentrated effort" to delegitimize the conservative majority Supreme Court.

Committee Chairman Dick Durbin, D-Ill., called the hearing to discuss Supreme Court ethics reform in light of recent reports that Justice Clarence Thomas took vacations with a wealthy friend who is also a GOP donor.

But Ranking Member Graham, R-S.C., said the hearing was "a concentrated effort by the left to delegitimize this court and cherry pick examples to make a point."

Plenty of folks I know wish that they were as "persecuted" as Justice Thomas.  No one is taking them on vacations that cost almost double their annual salaries.  No one is paying six thousand a month for one of their relatives to attend two different special schools.  No one is buying their elderly parents' homes and letting their parents just stay there, while improving the property.   Let alone a friend that was made after becoming a Supreme Court Justice (Crow in this link says he's known Thomas 27 years; Thomas has been on SCOTUS for 32 years.)

Or perhaps folks wish they were as "persecuted" as Justice Gorsuch as well; being paid $1.8 million for real estate by a law firm's head, with business before the court, nine days after being appointed to it

Service professions to society, should be of service to society.  Not a path towards wealth without enforceable ethics.

"This assault on Justice Thomas is well beyond ethics," Graham said. "It's about trying to delegitimize a conservative court that was appointed through the traditional process."

Honestly, for all the ridiculous cries of racism coming from the left these days, their harassment of Thomas is as good an example as anything they have thrown. But the left is the racist here. They are clearly targeting him. It is clearly manipulative to swing the court, they are clearly attacking a black man to do it.

The left is dangerous and dangerously hypocritical.

The attacks on Thomas and other conservatives are relentless, and their goal is simple and obvious. Liberals have been agitating to pack the courts to little success because, well, it is a blatant ploy to seize power. The next best thing is to pick off the conservative justices and replace them with ones of their choosing. Barring that, they want recusals in key cases to win by subtraction.

This is their current goal, although they may try to pack the court if Biden wins next year.

If the Left really believed their bullsh!t they would try to impeach Thomas, but that wouldn’t fly. So they are smearing him relentlessly.

So relentlessly that all 9 Supreme Court Justices fired back, and Sonia Sotomayor has even broken the silence to defend Thomas.

looks like this strategy to delegitimize conservatives may have backfired.   https://nypost.com/2023/05/04/supreme-court-justice-sonia-sotomayor-didnt-recuse-herself-from-cases-involving-book-publisher-that-paid-her-3m-report/ :hehe2:

Making slurs about the ethics of conservative justices, particularly Clarence Thomas, and stating that it is necessary to repeat the slurs because the court is conservative.  The Left has always hated Thomas and has worked to discredit him from the time he was nominated to the Court.    It has been one non-stop smear after another, and the smears have gone into overdrive since the Dobbs decision.

Black conservatives are a thorn in the side of the Left.   As you can imagine, the nicest slur on Clarence Thomas is that he is an Uncle Thomas. It gets much worse from there.

Sotomayor is notable that she's the first of the so-called "liberal" Justices to be caught with this sort of thing, and it's disgusting on her part that she used her position in such a way.  However if we're going for recusing; Thomas did not recuse himself on Affirmative Action cases, but Ketanji Brown-Jackson did.  As for the "conservative" Justices...

All the stuff with Thomas is already listed above.  But let's look at some other members of the most financially corrupt Supreme Court in American history:

1. Chief Justice Roberts and his wife have made over $10 million because she recruits lawyers for law firms with business before her husband's court.

2. After sitting unsold for a while, Associate Justice Gorsuch sold real estate to the CEO of a law firm within days of being appointed to the Supreme Court for more than $1 million.

3. Associate Justice Amy Comey-Barrett did a $900k real estate deal with a lobbyist with frequent business before the court, after she was appointed. Also the same group has paid for Alito to do European vacations and speeches.

4. Associate Justice Samuel Alito has been doing Alaskan fishing vacations on private aircraft and seacraft with billionaire GOP megadonors.

5. Associate Justice Kavanaugh, we still don't know who paid off his massive debts upon nomination; but I don't know about you all, but my friends don't just mysteriously repay six figures of baseball tickets out of nowhere.

If we had actual ethics for the SCOTUS, Associate Justice Sotomayor and all of the so-called "conservative" Justices would be removed for corruption.

Edit: If any of you want to 'persecute me' by passing me a few million dollars while badmouthing me, I'd be happy to take a few unkind words for seven or even eight figure compensation.

If we had actual ethics anywhere, every single justice in the SCOTUS would be removed and/or prosecuted, as would the entire controlling board of the CDC, the FDA, the DoE, the DoT, the FBI, the CIA, the FTC, every single news anchor on every major news network - and every member of upper mgmt of the same, probably 90% of Congress, certainly every member of every presidential administration of the last 40 years, every single person who's ever visited Epstein Island, everyone who has financially benefited from pharmaceuticals in the last 5 years, and the list goes on and on...

Ethics no longer exist in the West; only the appearances of ethics exist.

God is keeping a tally.

It is not good for anybody to have influence on judges. We do not have judges but we have ulema who are religious scholars who issues fatwas (a legal ruling). The founder of the first madhab, abu Hanifa, had been a wealthy merchant prior to studying the fiqh. We stayed a merchant after he became famous as an ulema. He was asked why and said because he didn’t want to ever have to depend on anybody for money as this could compromise his integrity. In early Islam is was considered disreputable to be an ulema full time because that likely meant you were being paid by the state which compromises your integrity. Late on, an endowment was formed which paid out living wages to ulema but was not under the control of the state. This was destroyed under colonialism. I believe judges should not allow even the appearance of corruption like this. But you should also pay the judges better so they won’t be so tempted.
