This is maybe a long shot, but does anyone here have any idea for places (in the U. S.) where a community can find black fabric suitable for religious garb?  It is getting harder to find.

Thank you.

You should try to find cream white!

MJ Cahn in NY. A lot of religious use them. https://www.wovenfabrics.com/ They have lots of fabrics not listed. Best to contact them.

Carr Textile in MO https://www.carrtextile.com/

Blue Desert Co. http://www.bluedesertco.com/index.htm

Sometimes Mr. Fink at Magna Fabrics has some good choices. His wife is Catholic and works for the Archdiocese of Newark. https://www.magnafabrics.com/collections/wool-and-wool-blend-fabrics

Years ago, I chatted very briefly and informally with a woman from Chicago whose family had made its fortune producing cloth for religious habits. However, after Vatican II, the business closed because of the lack of demand. There may have been additional factors such as no one in the family wanting to take over the business, but what she mentioned to me was the lack of demand. I never did know her name or the name of the company.
