Anastasia13 Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Do I have to stop thirst posting to go back to the church? This is where I am at. Is it ok to just go to confession when I am not ready to stop? I am trying to keep in mind to appreciate more as art, but I’m not great at the moment and not everything is what everyone would appreciate. Where does that put me?
Credo in Deum Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 If by thirst posting you mean posting provocative sexually charged pictures/videos then, yes, you would need to have a firm purpose of amendment in order to receive absolution. Mind you, you can still go to Mass, you just can't receive Holy Communion until you've been absolved of mortal sin. If you're not ready to stop posting that kind of content, I would still recommend going to Mass since attending Mass can be a source of receiving the actual graces needed to repent and return back to reconciliation.
Anastasia13 Posted July 31, 2025 Author Posted July 31, 2025 I don’t think I really know what kind of content is even ok.
Credo in Deum Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Well a wise priest once told me to ask myself "does this glorify God?" I've found when I ask myself that question, my conscience provides a clear answer.
Anastasia13 Posted July 31, 2025 Author Posted July 31, 2025 Sometimes my conscience is in fear based puritanical mode or lax bit no biggies mode.
Anastasia13 Posted July 31, 2025 Author Posted July 31, 2025 Sometimes an actors sculpted butt in nice pantaloons is motivations squats or a work of God.
Credo in Deum Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 I would say objectifying someone's rear would not be a behavior which glorifies God or takes into account the dignity your neighbor holds being made in God's image. 1 hour ago, Anastasia13 said: Sometimes my conscience is in fear based puritanical mode or lax bit no biggies mode. Sounds like you know when you're being one or the other, which means you probably know when you're operating in the middle of those two extremes.
Anastasia13 Posted July 31, 2025 Author Posted July 31, 2025 I don’t trust myself. and does that apply to fictional characters as well?
Anastasia13 Posted July 31, 2025 Author Posted July 31, 2025 This last line attached is ina realness, part of my lived experience, so I go the other way and back:
Anastasia13 Posted August 1, 2025 Author Posted August 1, 2025 I guess if I don’t know if the church is ok with Stan posting jokes and stuff too, I will have to have a talk about this with a priest. I am not communing yet. He said to stay where I am with my spouse while I am finding my way back to the church. I’m not ready to go from Sunday school teacher turned overwhelmed mom trying to face her trauma and adding everyone knowing I don’t commune at his church any more.

Then again, I could say Thank you God for making such a lovely rear.
