little2add Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 (edited) Nov. 22, 1963 (62 years ago today) John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States, was shot to death during a motorcade in Dallas; Texas Gov. John B. Connally, riding in the same car as Kennedy, was seriously wounded. About 45 minutes after assassinating Kennedy, Lee Harvey Oswald murdered Dallas police officer J. D. Tippit on a local street. He then slipped into a movie theater, where he was arrested for Tippit's murder. Oswald was charged with the assassination of Kennedy, but he denied responsibility for the killing, claiming that he was a "patsy" (a fall guy). Two days later, Oswald himself was murdered by local nightclub owner Jack Ruby on live television in the basement of Dallas Police Headquarters. Vice president Lyndon B. Johnson was later sworn in as president. Edited November 22, 2025 by little2add
Nunsuch Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 Fun fact: President Johnson was sworn in on a Catholic missal, because there was no Bible on Air Force One but there was a missal belonging to JFK.
