Guest Posted January 27 Posted January 27 As a catholic, do you believe luck exists? If yes, why, and if not, why not? Me personally I'm unsure. When I first got into catholicism I absolutely believed that luck did not exist and there was no such thing. But now I'm unsure.
Luigi Posted January 27 Posted January 27 (edited) Based on my lived experience, I don't believe luck exists. But my Catholicism has nothing to do with that. All I know is that, if the grocery store sold luck by the pound, I still wouldn't have any! There used to be a show on American television called "Hee Haw" - it was country music and comedy. They used to sing a song with the lyrics, "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all!" But my Catholicism reinforces my belief. I believe in God's providence, but not luck. Anastasia13 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 What even is luck of not providence based on what God knows is good for our souls?
FamulaDomini Posted January 29 Posted January 29 No, we do not believe that luck exists instead, as mentioned above, we believe that everything happens through Divine Providence. Luck implies that something happens 'accidentally' or by pure chance but nothing which God has not allowed to happen can happen.

But Ecclesiastes 9:11 says ''but time and chance happeneth to them all.'', how do you explain this?
