LATINLOV3R Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Hi everyone, I am in great need of recommendations for cloistered convents that celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass in its Extraordinary Form. These communities seem to be few and far between nowadays, so any suggestions are welcome! I'm particularly interested in Benedictine or Carmelite spirituality, but am open to others as well! Just a girl in love with the Lord & the TLM :) God Bless!

Luigi Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Try these. Carmelites, Littleton, CO: https://www.carmeliteslittleton.org/ Carmelites, Valparaiso, NE: https://www.latinmassdir.org/venue/carmel-of-jesus-mary-joseph-valparaiso-united-states/ Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles, Gower, MO: https://benedictinesofmary.org/about-us/; they have daughter house in southern Missouri, too.
Lou Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I think there are a few Benedictine monasteries with TLM in France... but it depends where you're based, and I know one of those places insist on absolute fluency in French. Absolute fluency! (But I cannot think of the name of that place just now!! Agh.)
Filia Dei Posted March 28 Posted March 28 I don't know too much about the Benedictines, but I believe that a number of Carmelite monasteries participate in the TLM. A few include the Carmelites of Littleton Colorado (https://www.carmeliteslittleton.org/) and the Carmelites in Traverse City. I think the Carmelites of Iron Cross (https://cloisteredlife.com/directory/iron-mountain) also are TLM, but might not be. If you are looking for more traditional Carmels in general, there is a very old thread which talks about the different constitutions of Carmelites - it's definitely a rabbit hole but you might find it interesting. This is from the middle of it; you'll want to go back to the beginning of the thread for context, but this will probably eventually be helpful once you have. In general, though, a good index of cloisters in the United States is https://cloisteredlife.com/.

There is also the Carmelite Monastery of the Annunciation in Birkenhead, UK.

I know a young lady who visited Alexandria and was told they were not interested in the TLM. Been a few years, so that could have changed. The Dominicans in Linden are building a new chapel which features a freestanding altar, indicating that they are a Novus Ordo community. The Marbury Dominicans state on their website that they use "English and Latin", indicating they do not use the TLM. If I'm wrong about any of these, I'd be thrilled for someone to correct me.

SD Carmelites in Alexandria do TLM. I live in the state.
