I read a related story somewhere, but now I can't remember where. It happened in 1633 or shortly after, when the missionaries were expelled from Japan. One missionary priest addressed his congregation and said he had to leave, but that missionaries would return to Japan some day, even if it was a long time in the future. The congregation asked how they would recognize Catholic missionaries in the future. The priest said, "They will not be married, and they will have a rosary."
