Paladin D Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 (edited) reachingcatholics.org Pretty interesting sight, even though it's full of errors and lies. Edited July 21, 2004 by cmotherofpirl
God Conquers Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 haha, nice site... This is quite good though:
The answer is Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose from the dead to make us God’s children [not securing eternal life for those who believe, but opening the door to heaven, and thus providing the potential that some might achieve entry]. By His grace [sanctifying grace, that is, received through the sacraments of the Church], we become a "new creation" [in the sacrament of baptism] and our good deeds become pleasing to God [earning additional sanctifying grace and eternal life].
DojoGrant Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004
The advertisement’s sponsor is the Knights of Columbus, and they are anything but evangelical. The Knights of Columbus are a Catholic fraternal society claiming 1.5 million members, mostly in North America. Their goals include the expansion of the Roman Catholic Church, promotion of vocations to the Catholic priesthood, greater participation in the sacrament of confession, and the advancement of devotion to Mary. They boast of distributing 100,000 Rosaries each year.
Hmm, sounds pretty evangelical to me? Now who are the ones loading words? <-- is a third degree Knight.
DojoGrant Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004
Since they began recruiting in secular publications in 1947, some 7.5 million people have responded to their advertisements. And 800,000 of these individuals enrolled in courses on the Catholic faith.
I'm actually curious how he obtained such statistics. But praised be to Jesus if this is true!
conservativecatholic Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004
The answer is looking into your eyes. The answer is Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose from the dead to make us God’s children. By His grace, we become a "new creation" (2 Corinthians 5:17) and our good deeds become pleasing to God (Revelation 19:8).
What's wrong with Catholic evangelization? Roman Catholics were the first to spread the Good News. St. Peter and St. Paul brought the Gospel to many countries. So did Sts. Cyril and Methodius who brought Christianity to the Slavs. Evangelization is not new in the Church; it has been around for 2,000 years.

Apotheoun Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 If you go to the homepage, then you see that it is an anti-Catholic website.
cappie Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 home page says it all main page
dUSt Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 It's funny how such websites who's mission is to lead people closer to Christ do just the opposite by attempting to lead them out of Christ's Church.
dUSt Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 I think I'm going to make a point to attend some of the conferences these guys promote, wearing a t-shirt that says "CATHOLIC" in big black letters. haha We'll bring cameras and make a documentary like Michael Moore.

But hey, I'd go even further and wear a Hail Mary shirt! Mary always pisses them off more! Edited July 21, 2004 by P3chrmd

mmmerf Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 It's a strange encouragement, in a way, to read some of their articles. I can immediately bring to mind the rebuttals to their arguments and facts to their lies and misdirection. It's kind of like winning at a video game. What's also nice is how 'scriptural' they are, and yet they refuse to accept that the Canon of scripture was decided on by the Catholic Church. On what authority do they make the claim that Scripture is the inspired word of God? Because the only authority that holds is the Catholic Church's. Otherwise, scripture is nothing more than a neat idea. Dave
Dave Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 James McCarthy, the head of RCFC, has put lots of blatant lies in his materials. For example, in a video he did, he showed footage of a chapel in Ecuador (?) where there was a statue of a crucified woman. He claimed it was Mary when in reality, it was St. Liberata, who just happened to be martyred by crucifixion. That error remained in the video even after someone called him on it.

Hananiah Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004
At death the souls of the redeemed pass immediately into Christ's presence, to remain there until the resurrection of their bodies at Christ's return. At death the souls of the lost go to Sheol, where they remain until they are brought before Christ at the Great White Throne final judgment, to be judged according to their works and cast into the Lake of Fire, there to remain eternally.
[Edited by dUST: Personal attack] The Bible says the good and bad will all be judged according to their works.
Guest JeffCR07 Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 Its amazing how when you change/ignore even one little bit of the Truth, your entire theology goes to Hell
