Dusty Fro Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 I really love it when people mock my beliefs with little yellow smileys. Or tell me that what I believe in is foolish, or ridiculous. Because that's a great way to show someone the truth, to make them feel like a fool.
qfnol31 Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 I don't think I've done that, but if I have, I apologize. I just do it because I've become very blunt, and try to keep it from sounding like I'm mean. I use the smileys to hopefully make me sound a little nicer and open to what someone has to say.
MichaelFilo Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 No one is mocking your beliefs. Possibly mocking the lies you believe (Ie. WE don't believe that grace saves us, or that the crusades were evil ). The first is pure misunderstanding, the 2nd is years of protestant bias placed out in the media and public to make a lie seem truthful. however, since smilies are faces, and really convey any message, they neither help a debate, or add any value to the statement being made. They actually take away by drawing the eye to the color as opposed to the words. Excuse me and all who may have shown themselves as mocking your beliefs, but just because you believe it, doesn't mean it's true. God bless, Mikey
M.SIGGA Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004
WE don't believe that grace saves us
uhh?
MichaelFilo Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 It is a reference to a thread he was on in which he quoted canon law to conclude that we don't believe that grace saves.
Tora-Musume Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 I like to use the icons cause they are there to be used. And plus, I think they are cute. I never put an icon that is not the following... . Hope that was all that I used. Gotta Love Me!
cool beans. DF don't be so grumpy and play martyr. You come to a Catholic site and surprised some Catholic folks actually know something about their faith other than Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be and then get upset. Adjust your expectations, cheer up, and bring on another debate!
Dusty Fro Posted August 10, 2004 Author Posted August 10, 2004 I didn't say you guys didn't know your own religion. I posted stuff that doesn't jive with me, and I'm getting mixed explanations.
mmmerf Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Dude, there's a BILLION of us. You're gonna get mixed explanations. What do you want?

IcePrincessKRS Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 So, uh.... what exactly is the debate here?

picchick Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 I post smilies to lighten the mood a little bit. Debating can get a little heated sometimes.
MichaelFilo Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 Smilies make your point less crediable. Just a thought. God bless, Mikey
picchick Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 i would only put them after a comment that is less serious. When something I know I said is crediable then I will have a source ready. Either you'll see it or you can ask me. From now on I'll try to put my citations for ya'll.
