Dudes, after the cheesy bit in ep II where all the jedis get killed I quit watching. Jedis were wussy and weak in that one, and let's not forget the fact that Vader kills about all of them off.
Ya know if it wasn't for SW, TLOTRT never would have been able to be sucessfull the way it is today? You gotta give the Star Wars all the movies credit for raising the bar on Special Effects.  If the SFX were so awesome on Episode IV then why did Georgy have to go back and make a "special edition"?  Wait, I know!  It was a chance to make some more money!  I will admit, he is a good businessman.

LOTR did not surpass everything in Star Wars, not by the Least bit.

Star Wars is up more to the Addiences Imagination, so they can imagine more of what happened than what the LOTR has done.

What LOTR has done its there, yes its GREAT, but its done, you can't really imagine on ya own, inless ya read the books, but they dont quailify in this. Star Wars, you have litterially hundreds of thousands of interupations of it..... and you can imagine more beyond it, than you can LOTR.
Are you kidding me, sir? SW raised the bar on special effects? That is ludicrous. 2001: A Space Odyssey came out in 1968 and looks more professional and realistic than Mr. Lucas' ILM crappy cardboard "death star". 2001: A Space Odyssey raised science fiction to an intellectual and artistic level never before seen in motion pictures.

Star Wars made it commercial, since it was "cool" and a bunch of 14-year-old kids liked it and bought the toys and blankets and stickers.

I'm sorry, but your argument about "imagining more" about SW is incomprehensible to say the least. Have you read the LotR books? I've read them, and a good deal of the SW books. The SW books are way more interesting than the movies. Check out Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy if you want some good post RotJ stuff to read. But even that is just lasers and spaceships for their own sake.

LotR is not swords and dragons for its own sake, it's about life. It's about sin, temptation, duty, honor, redemption, loss, suffering, and so many other things.

What's Star Wars about?

"Oh look! There's the bad guy! He's all in black with a scary voice!"

"Holy Carp! He's his dad? Look at the moral implications! This is soooo deep! Ach, give me some water, I ate too much popcorn..."

I am pretty darn sure there are more interpretations and scholarly writings about LotR than there is about Star Wars. And if you want to make an argument that Luke Skywalker suffers more than Frodo because Luke lost his own hand while Frodo lost his measily finger, then forget it.

Star Wars is about life too, you know George Lucas got his story alot from the Bible and other religions and all those thigns you just mentioned.

Star Wars is one huge story, about Luke's Dad's life. Its about Redemption, Temptation, Rising, Falling, Sin, loss, shuffering, honor, duty, etc etc, of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Also, its not just about oh Luke's father is Anakin. no theres more to it than that.

Birth--Death/Fall--Rebirth/Redempation/Death

Thats what the whole story is about.

Anakin going from A Slave Boy to a Intergalactcal Hero.

Its about Anakin's Life, as a Slave, His Honor and Duty as a Jedi Knight, His transformation into a Sith, His Shuffering, and his sin, and finally his Redempation and Death. thats the whole SW Saga, and GL said After ep3 theres about a 20 year gap between 3-4, so that is left to the audiences imaginations to figure out what happens between that period.

LOTR all the way!!! (books and movies).

I was a fan of the original SW trilogy, but it still can't compare to LOTR!
And anyone who thinks the prequel SW episodes are better than LOTR is smoking crack!! Don't get me started!!!! LoL! ;)

Kids, its time you put away your plastic Star Wars toys and graduate to some real literature and drama!

Only really really hardcore SW Fantastics like the Prequals better than the Originals. lol, but the Prequals do apply to the SW Storyline, it just needs to be told better.

SW is about life also, SW over The Lord of the Rings anyday lol.

Star Wars is in no comparison to LOTR---Frodo wins.

Yes Star Wars is a comparasion to LOTR, because LOTR has not raised anything, its done nothing to this culture, it was just a very entertianing book trilogy and movie trilogy, thats it.

Star Wars Has Impacted the WORLD both Classics & Prequals (Well Prequals alittle bit, but not as much as the CT); Star Wars "WAS" the movie to change it all, to raise the bar level, Space Oddeyess blah, they were okay, but Star Wars, is the one that is most rememberabled among this Culture, when you here lightsaber you insteadly think, Star Wars, Jedi & Sith.

Star Wars Tops LOTR..

Star Wars has indeed raised the bar in film, many in Hollywood admit this fact. Plot-wise it can be debatable, but when it comes to technological advancement and special FX, Star Wars changed the film industry. Even the prequels themselves have made some advancements for the industry, for example: being the first to film a major motion picture with digital cameras in a 24-frame format.

Go Star Wars all the way ,you are right White Knight only true fanatical fans will love the prequels and Im one of them ,Episode 2 was a great movie ,what was so bad about it ? None of the Jedi died except for like 2 or 3 in the geonosis battle what are you talking about Oik ? And JohnBoy , episode 2 had to be a love story ,it had to set the stage for the twins to be born ,luke and leia.

No love story ,no marriage ,no marriage ,no twins ,no twins ,no original trilogy ,no original trilogy ,no Star Wars!!!!

I love them both! Don't make me decide!!!

You seriously cannot compare Lord of the Rings with Star Wars.

LOTR is superior in every single category. :D

No Way, Star Wars has more Bibical things than The LOTR does, and its Effects are still buyable, and look freakin sweet, (not including the PT) just the CT.

Yeah, and you gotta love the "alright George Lucas, I'll stand here and recite your stupid lines - when do I get my paycheck?" acting (especially from the two young leads). :rolling:
