We Need To Change Our Attitudes

I'm not saying I haven't been guilty of this before, but I think we need to change our attitudes about Kerry. No, I don't mean we should vote for him. What I'm saying is that in my conversations with others on here, the point has been raised that people are treating Kerry like he's less than human, whereas instead we should pray for him. True, he's pro-abortion. True, he supports gay marriage. True, it would be sinful to vote for him. But we should pray for him; we shouldn't act like he's Satan incarnate and beyond all help. Heck, we may have driven away a fellow PMer, as evidenced by his post a little while ago:

Actually I think this is a sign. I'm breaking from Pm for awhile because I really really can't stand this sort of stuff. i'll check back after the election and maybe this website will return to it's mission of evangelism and a cool place for Catholic folks and not some sort of angry biased political machine. even Open Mic isn't safe anymore. I'm out for a few mos. Peace in Christ.

P. S. from Dave: Our Lady of Fatima said that so many people go to hell because they have no one to pray for them. Hopefully none of us want to see Kerry or anyone else go to hell. So pray!!!!!

Kerry is definately not the devil incarnate.

That role is specifically taken by Hilary Clinton.

J/K - but I do think she is a lot more scary.

The more I think about him, the more I feel sorry for him, just like Gov McGreevey. Imagine how empty their lives must be without the bedrock of faith and grace that comes through intimacy with God and the Sacraments. He is truly a man to be pitied and prayed for.

Every social group has it's bigots. For some it's race. For others it's ideology. I've been on the receiving end too many times to villify Kerry, or Democrats, or liberals. We are the Body of Christ. Let [i]them[/i] unjustly villify us.

Well, yes, but surely you're not saying we shouldn't pray for Kerry himself?

If by that comment you're referring to M.SIGGA, who's mentioned in Dave's post, he does not support Kerry, he's talked about voting for a third party candidate because he can't vote for President Bush. However, he is disgusted by the bitter, and I do mean [b]bitter[/b] hatred of Kerry and all Democrats by some on this phorum (I'm not going to name names, but I definitely could, and you all know who), and I too am disgusted by it. And I am not supporting Sen. Kerry, either; I am supporting charity. It's not charitable to constantly malign someone, treating him as subhuman, while also refusing to pray for him.

He's not getting attacked, the truth is getted defended against his lies.

We cannot know the real policy when the man changes it everytime he speaks.

You are missing the point, when someone is running for office they must be scrutinized.

Everyone who fights for truth needs everything available to show that it is insane to vote for the guy.

If someone is driven off because of facts and contradictions dealing with kerry... that person has an issue.
