That's really sad.

People that don't go to church probably don't believe in hell, so the idea of eternal salvation doesn't seem all that necessary. Therefore, they don't feel a particular need to go to church.

I was commenting on the sad state of the Anglican Church from a Reformed perspective. What's wrong with that? You guys, I must say, aren't much better than baptistboard. You attempt to silence (and when you can't silence, you ridicule, case in point, Ironmonk) those who disagree with you.

This is true, which is why the Anglican Church needs to get back to its Reformed roots, require strict adherence to the Thirty-nine Articles, and excommunicate anyone who espouses liberal, modernist, pluralist, or Romanist heresies.

Come on, that's not exactly a meritable response to Scofizzle's prayer request. There *are* good people, and good Catholics there. Show respect for the Europeans on this board instead of acting like the continent is too doomed to be worth the effort to pray for!

Its true. There is like 20-25% of all of Europe, practicing Christianity, and of that, some are doing it just because of their ancestry.

MorphRC, although you appear to dislike the British, (I read your response to the Nazi comment from Random in another thread but was too upset to comment, especially given that members of my family were killed by the Nazis), never the less, I can assure you, there are good and faithful Catholics living in the UK!

I suspect my country will be answerable to God for the sins she has committed in her past, and am increasingly beginning to think that that might be sooner rather than later given the current state of play regarding abortion, stem cell research etc etc so I for one am grateful that people would be willing to pray for us.

Indeed we are, though the times which the Blessed English Martyrs lived (and died) through were most certainly worse, and the Church prevailed........we have hope......and they are an inspiration to us....

Pray that the Blessed Martyrs will become Saints soon.....
