Lil Red Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 Prayers - Three Powerful one liners: "Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner." (Known as "The Pilgrim's Prayer." It was prayed during the middle ages, silently, mile after mile, day after day, by pilgrims on their way to the Holy Land.) "Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Kingdom Come." (Jesus asks us to "constantly petition heaven for the spread of my Kingdom.") "Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in Thee." (Jesus encouraged Sister Faustina and the whole world to pray "the Chaplet of Mercy." Jesus says to us: "I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those Souls who trust in My mercy.")
Piccoli Fiori JMJ Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 I like them all! Thanks for your marvelous post!
Thy Geekdom Come Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 My old confessor in Omaha likes to say, "Dearest Jesus, I love thee, make me a saint." It's very calming and really lifts you up. Blessed be God!
Soldier4Him Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 Here's a one liner story. My dad and I were arguing one night a few years back, pretty heated, and all of a sudden my mom just piped in, "Smile, God loves you." Needless to say we shut up.
Tony Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004
Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.
I have seen that called "The Jesus Prayer" as well
Soldier4Him Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 Don't forget the words of Thomas the doubter... "My Lord and My God."
Guest T-Bone Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 "Lord, you know I love thee" St. Peter, aka The Rock
Soldier4Him Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 "My Lord, I belive, I adore, I trust, and I love thee." Part of the Fatima angel's prayer.
ICTHUS Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 "Not the labours of my hands, could fulfil Thy Law's demands"
Sinner Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 Thy will be done.....Thy will be done.....Thy will be done.....Thy will be done.....Thy will be done.....Thy will be done.....Thy will be done.....Thy will be done.....Thy will be done.....Thy will be done.....Thy will be done.....Thy will be done.....Thy will be done.....
Birgitta Noel Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 "Lord I believe, help my unbelief."
daugher-of-Mary Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world! Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto thine.
MagiDragon Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Lord, Please make me Your perfect instrument.
the_rev Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Father, I have sinned against heaven and you, I know longer deserve to be called your Son. This verse has changed my life!
FutureSoror Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto thine.
I love that one! I'm not sure why, but it's special to me, and I need it.
TrinityAddiction Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world!
That is from the Divine Mercy Chaplet.... such a powerful prayer. The Divine Mercy pictures themselves overwhelm me... His eyes... wow. "Jesus, I Trust in You!" Written at the bottom of the pictures.
