jgirl Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Yeah, but in a way it was totally worth it. I went to Steubenville, and I realized this weekend that I needed to go there in order to find my vocation to the right order, so it was suggested that I beg for my money. I'm only responsible for half of that, so I am going to ask if my parents will take on my half, too (since my mom has gotten a way better job and been promoted since the original decision was made in 2000 when I started college). I figured I would have to work and enter sometime between 06-08, but it seems like I may be trying for July 05 now. I'm dropping the v-bomb and asking my parents on Halloween weekend when I go home, so if you want to pray for anything, that's something that needs to be prayed for (that my parents hearts are softened if this is God's will) Jen

I was going to drop out of school in the middle of junior year to pay of my loans and enter this August actually, but my mom did not like the idea one bit. I'm glad I didn't because I would have missed out on so much and I would not be the person I am today. The loans are stressfull. I do not have many out as you, but it is still stressfull to have that huge obstacle between you and your goal. I decided I need to work for a year once I graduate in May and if I need any more than that I will start begging for money. Good luck with dropping the v-bomb on your parents. I had a hard time doing that, but it went better than I expected, although we haven't talked about it since. My prayers are with you. Let us know how it goes.

Im in no theology classes yet (none fit into my schedule) but im recieving theology out the wazoo anyway! The Catholic prescence here is absolutely amazing. None of the other colleges I'm applying to are Catholic, I was kinda staying away from Catholic schools. I went to a Catholic gradeschool, and I HATED religion class. Not religion, just the class. But I've heard good things about Steubenville, so we'll see. Peace -Alan

I am "glad" (but not really) for all of the challenges you are facing in college. Everything that I have read tells me that you are a threat to Satan. If you were not a threat I believe you wouldn't be having the problems you do. He doesn't bother "his own." Do you understand what I am saying? I am thinking you are not so much in "college" as you may be in a "mission field." These people need you, whether or not they are willing to admit it or are even able to understand it. Which scripture verse talks about not hiding your light under a basket but put where people can see it? What you are going through is LIFE. It doesn't matter what your vocation is, there will always be challenges. Think of it this way before a fight what does a boxer have to do? TRAIN for it right? Okay, this may be your training. This sounds like an opportunity to develop your SPIRITUAL MUSCLES. My time was when I joined the Army. Talk about trying to live your faith. Military life is college times a hundred. I heard conversations where I would go back to the barracks and take a shower. At every turn LITERALLY my beliefs and faith were ridiculed. Their were people I worked with that went out of their way to make fun of me. In situations like this your faith "grows up." Pretty much up till this point your faith belongs "to how you were raised." Your parents gave it to you and you took their word for it. Now is when you discover and accept your faith for yourself. You will discover through what you go thru, how your faith "fits you" it becomes personal. I hope you see what I mean. Edited September 20, 2005 by ofpheritup
