So me and my wife are driving around yesterday looking for homes. Just for kicks I decided to drive down my "dream" streat of optimal places I'd want to live, thinking that there's no chance that any of the house are for sale (there's only about 10 houses on the entire street). The street is called "St Maria Ct"--named that because of the Franciscan parish that is also on the street. Well, to my suprise, I see a "FOR SALE BY OWNER" sign in front of one of the houses. Now, let me put this into perspective...

This church is the only church within an hour's drive that offers daily adoration. It's also the only church in town that actually looks like a church (traditional architecture, etc). It also has the best CCD and RCIA classes in the whole area. Simply, it's the most orthodox, beautiful, and solid church in town... Now, this house for sale? Across the street. Literally, the house is closer to the church than 1/2 of the parking spaces in it's parking lot. I would literally be able to walk out of my house, cross the street and be in adoration. The church's basketball courts and playgrounds are just as close.

So, I call the number on the sign and the guy selling it turns out to be a long time member of the church. He's got kids and grandkids who grew up in the house and attended the church... I tell him how blessed I'd be if I was able to buy his house and live across the street from church, etc. He doesn't tell me how much he's asking for it, he tells me how much it was last appraised at and then says "make me an offer". So, I told him I'd talk to my wife and mortgage lender and get back to him...

Problem. It appraises at $35,000 MORE than I got approved for. I'm going to call him back tomorrow and offer him the most I can afford. I really want this house. I would literally be living less than 100 yards from the Eucharist.

Please pray that God's will be done. Thanks all.

LoL Dust I'll say a prayer ;)

My dad is looking at EXTREMELY expensive houses yet again just to dream so I found this thread funny lol.

One of the houses has 500k in taxes and probably a million dollars worth of french doors easily in the house lol

You should promise him an hour of adoration every week until you die, if he takes the price down...

Good luck Dust, I'll pray for you.

Back when I was in Wilminington, DE there was a large parish with a rectory and 2 priests living literally behind my backyard.

Thx guys. I called the guy a little while ago. He said that my offer was way below what he was thinking. :)

I asked him what's the lowest he'd take for it and he said he hadn't thought about it. He's going to get back to me after he thinks about it.
