J.R.D Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 Kerry is a democrat and they dont help themselves like republicans do ?
Mary's Knight, La Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 J.R.D. you're gonna have to give evidence on several points: 1. Prove Kerry is a democrat (just kidding) 2. Prove republicans help themselves, unjustly since it is implied in your claim. and prove this is a republican attitude which permeates most if not the entire party 3. prove democrats do not help themselves, and prove this alleged selflessness is a distinct property of the democrats and is not found in the republican party
J.R.D Posted October 30, 2004 Author Posted October 30, 2004 1. I think we all know hes a democrat 2. Bush helped himself with money for the war and carp 3. Democrats are there to help the poor and middle class
Paladin D Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 My political position: I don't care what political party you are, but if you go against the 5 non-negotiables, then you don't get my vote. (But since Kerry supports more of them than GWB, I'm voting for GWB). If a Democrat was running for President and did not support (or less of) the 5 non-negotiables, and the Republican was the opposite, I would vote for the Democrat.

Guest Aluigi Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 you really need to look into the issues instead of blindly following the party rhetoric. no offense, but in my humble opinion people who have such simplistic views of the party lines without making any effort to really look into the issues and look into each party's platforms and everything should not be allowed to vote. http://www.georgewbush.com/Agenda/ http://www.johnkerry.com/ (to the left there's a list of links, the ones under plan for america) There's where you're going to find what their plans are. read them both and then come back and talk to me. because i will not stand for mere mindless party rhetoric. Ricky2 Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 Power corupts, both parties are subject to it because they believe they can easily get away with it and, I dare say, do most of the time (Clinton did - Nixon didn't). The only control is self imposed and usually due to a belief in some kind of ultimate accountability in the next world if not in this one. The more secular our society (and the world) become, the more coruption that will occur. The Democratic party has become a tool of those pushing the secularist agenda. Thats a FACT! At least some in the Republican party stand up for our traditional Judeo-Christian values. Thats also a FACT!
J.R.D Posted October 30, 2004 Author Posted October 30, 2004 Why do you need facts for the common sence of things Thats all you peolpe want facts facts and more facts ... its all common sence .... so obviously yall dont have common sence
Guest Aluigi Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 or maybe it's just COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS.
J.R.D Posted October 30, 2004 Author Posted October 30, 2004 Misconceptions??????? So it was just a misunderstanding that he took so much money for the war and put us in a defasit????
Ricky2 Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 I'd rather be in debt than blown up by some radical muslem.
Guest Aluigi Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 he, along with democrats and republicans alike, saw a threat and acted upon it. John Kerry has said he will spend MORE on the Iraqui war, "however many billions of dollars it takes to win the conflict" I believe he's quoted as saying. It's a misconception that republican economic policies are selfish while democratic economic policies are selfless. the truth is: neither one is truly selfless. and both have a big difference of opinion on what would be a better economic system, democrats generally think a bigger government is better while republicans generally want a smaller government to allow citizens to capitalize on their oppurtunities. There's a defecit due to the requirements of war, a war which both the Republican and Democrat who are running had a hand in starting (Kerry voted for the war, Bush made the ultimate decision to go to war). Kerry has no way to suddenly make the economy all better. Yeah, knowing the facts is important when talking about politics. Don't just say "democrats good, republicans bad" without evidence or facts. 6 months prior to bush coming into office a recession had started, bush came in and started jump-starting the economy with tax cuts helping small businesses (including the small business that my dad built from the ground up and now runs). it was very good economically. Then 9-11 happened, by 9-12 we had lost one million jobs in one day. It had a major hurting impact on our economy that is still being felt. We went to war, that of course creates jobs and it was important to fight Al Quaida. We declared war on global terrorism. A problem was noticed festering in Iraq, by everyone from Bill Clinton to John Kerry to George W. Bush to the United Nations, they all saw Saddam becoming a major threat. The United States, Great Britain, and a coallition went off to fight the threat. This has had both positive and negative impacts on our economy, but because our economy had just received the big blow of 911 it was really having a tough time getting up and the Iraq war didn't help much, but both republicans and democrats alike thought it necessary. Anyway, that's the story of the past 4 years of our economy, trying to recover from the pop of the 90's bubble and being hit with terrorism and wars. It's in pretty good shape all things considered.
voiciblanche Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004
2. Bush helped himself with money for the war and carp
Bush helping himself with money and Bush getting money for a war are not the same thing.
3. Democrats are there to help the poor and middle class
So you're saying that Republicans care nothing for the poor and middle class? Many Republicans are middle class, so I doubt they are for neglecting the middle class. Also, I think it's safe to say that most Americans, no matter what party affiliation, want the same things. For example, we almost all would like to have a good, strong economy. Different parties simply have different ideas on how to get one. We're all against terrorism, though some of us think it's better to try to talk and work it out while some prefer to take swift action. I'm convinced that it's the same with the poor. The Democrats and the Republicans, I'm hoping, both want to help the poor. They just have different ideas on how to go about it. Also, are you saying the Democrats care about nothing but the poor and middle class? They certainly spend a lot more time talking about taking money away from the rich than they do giving money to the poor!

EXplain to me when the Heinz factories which are oversea are going to come back to the US and give jobs to the middle-class?
J.R.D Posted October 30, 2004 Author Posted October 30, 2004 First off I never said republicans dont care for the poor they care but r they doing something for the poor .... take The NO CHILD LEFT BEIND ACT ... I dont see no money in northside high school or southsides school where I live ?????....... Instead it went to southlake carrol .... rich folks .... to make them a indoor football stadium for the high school team ... and the robin hood carp is that carp.... republicans dont care for the poor as long as the "superior" gets what is needed for them now i said republicans dont care for the poor
Guest Aluigi Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 that's because in richer areas they hike up the school taxes cause the people living around can afford it. that's not federal funding that causes all that money wasting. richer areas spend more money because they have higher school taxes. no child left behind certainly doesn't pay for any school's football field.
Guest Aluigi Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 anyway, schools are stupid, especially my school. they have a high emphasis on athletics (not saying that should be totally neglected, but why does football get all the school tax money while cross country or band has to organize fundraising?) and tend to lower their standards just so they can graduate people. They should have higher standards for education so that when kids graduate they can go out and succeed in the world.
J.R.D Posted October 30, 2004 Author Posted October 30, 2004 That you know of... the government is involved with the education programs ... which i dont think its right .... and what " NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND ACT" I dont see it
Guest Aluigi Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 no child left behind is supposed to make schools stop shuffling people through schools and start actually educating them. i don't know how well it's succeeding, i've heard statistics out there both ways in regards to whether or not it's being implemented properly. i know in our school they still tend to let kids coast without knowing much of anything, but on a nation-wide basis statistics show that the education gap between minorities/poor people is decreasing, which is a good thing.
