flip Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 If "Spilling your seed" is a sin, and in effect, you are killing thousands of sperm that could be life, then why aren't wet dreams a sin?
StColette Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 (edited) because wet dreams are not a voluntary act like masturbation is Edited November 2, 2004 by StColette

Balthazor Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 There is more to it than that I think. Because if just "spilling your seed" is the sin then it would not be a sin for women to masturbate because she doesn't have any seed to spill and her eggs remain intact uneffected and unharmed. Masturbation is a sin because it takes sex, what God created to unite a man and a woman and for procreation, and uses it for purely pleasure. In other words it abuses sex, it is a sin because it is selfish. Because wetdreams are, like StColette said, involuntary you are not committing a sin. .....did you get this every sperm is sacred thought from Monty Python? Just curious. Balthazor
StColette Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 The verses he is speaking of is: Gn:38:9-10 9 He knowing that the children should not be his, when he went in to his brother's wife, he spilled his seed upon the ground, lest children should be born in his brother's name. 10 And therefore the Lord slew him, because he did a detestable thing: (DRV) The verses can either me taken as meaning masturbation or a form of contraception both of which are not open to creating life. With either way you take the verses a wet dream is still not a sin, because it is not a voluntary action like masturbation or contraception is.
Balthazor Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 I just thought it funny because my roommate was just singing the every sperm is sacred song....
Socrates Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 Oooohhhh, the evil of Monty Python has already corrupted your young minds!!!
Balthazor Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 You can corrupt someone who already knows the truth
Balthazor Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 I mean you CAN"T Corrupt someone who already knows the truth. Monty Python is funny because it is absurd

Monty Python is funny because it is absurd
To a point you are correct just be careful and mindful that we are in a fallen state. Anybody in this temporal world is entirely capable of falling into the grips of Satan. Don't mean to sound harsh, but complacency ain't cool. You relationship with God is not stagnant. It is always either improving or getting worse, with every decision that we make.

What if you cannot find someone who will marry you to carry on an intimate relationship? What if you are not “lucky in love”? I think that masturbation is part of the package deal that GOD includes (this package deal includes intelligence, motor skills, opposable thumbs) to remind us of our self reliance and if we ever did have to find ourselves in a position of independency that we could still provide even for all the aspects and interests of our lives. I also think that if this was something detestable to GOD that he would have programmed this into the creation of the human body not to respond in the manner that it does. I have also heard that masturbation is a release and in some beliefs it is a healthy way to connect with the Divine.

Isn’t the act of going to bed a voluntary action? Isn’t the PROVEN knowledge that you are going to dream or that you have to dream when you go to bed make it a voluntary action? Is dreaming a sin? Did you K(NOW) that you can control your dreams?
SignOfTheCross Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 Trust me bro, all sexual sins screw your faith, it don't make it stronger.
