shelly_freak Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 YAY!!!! That was my favorite childhood series!
homeschoolmom Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 I heard (quite awhile ago) that they are going to be faithful to the books. I was just concidering ordering the CD set of CoN from Focus on the Family. I have heard that they are wonderful....
Paladin D Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 Some info about the movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363771/
daveybe Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 A year or two ago there was talk of republishing the Narnia series. With all the Christian allegory removed. Then i guess they realized it's hard to sell a book that's only seven pages long :haha: Seriously though, that's a classic example of copyright law not working to protect the author's interests. Get the wrong people in charge of your estate, and who knows what'll happen to your intellectual property. Hoping these new flix do a better job.
littleflower+JMJ Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 new zealand made LOTR, lol i think it might make a good one with this one as well! *crosses fingers*
homeschoolmom Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004
A year or two ago there was talk of republishing the Narnia series. With all the Christian allegory removed.
yeah, i remember that... wonder how that rumor got started...
azaelia Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 C.S. Lewis' grandson (or godson, can't remember) is a producer and he's keeping it faithful to teh books, even the Christian allegory.
Colleen Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004
C.S. Lewis' grandson (or godson, can't remember) is a producer and he's keeping it faithful to teh books, even the Christian allegory.
It's actually his step-son, Douglas Gresham. I'm really glad that he is on board with the production! http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1007130/
Homeschoolmon said: I was just concidering ordering the CD set of CoN from Focus on the Family. I have heard that they are wonderful....
I hear the BBC production of it is good, too.
cmotherofpirl Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 (edited) The BBC already did some of the series, it is excellent. Edited November 13, 2004 by cmotherofpirl
homeschoolmom Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 We have the BBC version, but it only goes through "The Silver Chair"... Now, I heard that the reason that the rest weren't made is because there was a train reck and the actors were killed... now, to me, I smell an urban legend (after all, doesn't that happen in "The Last Battle"?)
daveybe Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 (edited) speaking of C.S. Lewis... bumping this topic again to ask: anybody seen Shadowlands? Said to be the story of how he met his wife, Joy Davidman. I guess it started as a one man stage drama, then migrated to the screen. Comments? Worth a rental? Edited November 23, 2004 by daveybe
Deeds Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 I think we watched Shadowlands in school, although we only watched part of it so I couldn't really get into it. I loved Narnia and the BBC production was excellent. I remember hiding behind the sofa when they tied Aslan to the table.
azaelia Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004
Comments? Worth a rental?
Yes, definitely worth a rental.
