StColette Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 (edited) ignore first statement lol hmm have yall switch soaps or laundry detergents ? Edited November 16, 2004 by StColette
Birgitta Noel Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 It could be, or it could be poison ivy, or just stress induced, or from excessive moisture, or an allergic reaction. And if it's any of those things and you're itching it it'll spread. Get the to a pharmacist or to a doc. They can give you stuff that can stop it. In the mean time, stop scratching. I know it's hard, but you're making it worse. Take a cool shower maybe.
cmotherofpirl Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 (edited) cool shower, and take benedryl. Did you ever have chicken pox, german measles, and had you been near little kids lately? Edited November 16, 2004 by cmotherofpirl
shelly_freak Posted November 16, 2004 Author Posted November 16, 2004 lets see...no we haven't switched soaps or detergents or anything like that. it's not poison ivy. prolly not stress, but possibly. i had chicken pox when I was a little kid. I haven't been around any little kids in quite a while. I think I'll just have to go see the doctor.
Balthazor Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 any antibiotics? is it a fine rash? little bitty bumps? or is it like hives?
Balthazor Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Oh and by the way if it is an anit-biotic rash or a rash from something like aspirin it can take quite a while for yor body to get rid of. I am just warning you, last year I discovered I was alergic to anti-biotics and it took a month before the rash was completly gone.
shelly_freak Posted November 16, 2004 Author Posted November 16, 2004 It is little tiny bumps but I haven't been taking anything in at least a month. I have an apointment for 11 this morning so we'll see.
Balthazor Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 well good luck, let us know how it turns out. More than likely I am thinking that they will give you a souped up form of benedryl, I hate the stuff. It puts me to sleep, I would rather be itchy than drowsy. Goodl Luck girl!
shelly_freak Posted November 16, 2004 Author Posted November 16, 2004 Well she couldn't figure out what it was. She just told me it's a rash from something and then she gave me a perscription for a steroid cream. I don't wanna use the stuff, especially when she tells me to use a thin layer because it can thin the skin. Has anyone ever taken a steroid cream or know anything about them?
Ash Wednesday Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I get flare ups of eczema -- I take steriod cream when they flare up, and Protopic (non-steriod) in the interim. The odd thing is, the Protopic works better with me than the steriod cream. A lot of things can cause eczema. Part of mine is related to my thyroid -- but I've noticed mine is a problem during times of stress. Sometimes hay fever or hot sweaty environments aggrivates mine. My eczema isn't bumpy as much as it is pink and flaky. I get it above my eyelids and on other patches of my body. Yecch.
Birgitta Noel Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Shelly, it can thin the skin, but I would think that you'd have to use it for a long time or a lot of it for it to affect you. Ask the pharmacist about it, she should be able to tell you the exact risks. My mom used it for decades and it did thin her skin, but note I said DECADES.
shelly_freak Posted November 16, 2004 Author Posted November 16, 2004 Ok, well I guess I'm just being overly parinoid. (my song just came on the radio! happy day!)
