Brother Adam Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 I do want to mention in all fairness, that I know alot of Baptists and Fundamentalists who hold to OSAS, who try their very best to be sacrificial in giving of themselves. Some of the very best Christians I've personally met are of the OSAS mentality. Unfortunately that does not go for the whole.

I don't deny that, but wouldn't all that be considered "extra" and "unnecessary"?
Brother Adam Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 As Martin Luther was quoted saying "Let us therefore sin all the more so grace may abound" it would indeed be deemed "unnecessary". It would fall under the classification of being part of santification only. It would be a "good" thing to do and may even help store up treasure in heaven, but for some it would seem almost because we will end up in heaven anyway. Naturally though this can't be applied to every fundamentalist or protestant because everyone believes something different from the next person.

By this I mean, OSAS believe that acts of charity etc, are not necessary for your salvation, but out of love and obedience to the Lord, they are done lovingly. In the same way that you can give birth to children but because of your love for them, you sacrifice and care for them. Is it "necessary" to sacrifice for your children? No, and some people don't, but most do out of love. But it doesn't effect the fact that you had children...
