Exorcists...

[Fiat_Voluntas_Tua]

Are there many Exorcist within the Church today? If so do they perform many exorcisms? If so what is the rite? How does one become appointed to perform Exorcisms? Do you know any Exorcists?

I know an EX-exorcist (that sounds funny!) but I don't know any current exorcists.

Each diocesan bishop chooses who will be the exorcist (exorcists) in their diocese. Some diocese don't have appointed exorcists, which means that the bishop would appoint someone if the occasion arose, or perform the exorcism himself. The number of exorcisms is not tracked. One is appointed an exorcist by the bishop and usually it's for their noted holiness and experience.
